maybe the era of "nothing ever happens" gives way to "everything happens". where agi, wars, fusion, nanotech, longevity, revolutions, etc all happens at the same time.

for enterprise use cases, where the context is really huge, i wonder how close we are to solving continual learning/compaction? More than AGI, this would increase AI adoption
true automation, that's end of end, where the ai is given highest level of agency, to fix its mistakes, course-correct, needs no human monitoring, just as cracked high agency employees in a firm. But we are limited by compute, regulation, safety concerns for this to happen

yess exactly, people are biased, just autopiloting and running on whatever narratives they’ve chosen. we really do all live in our own little realities. everything feels so arbitrary, everyone cherry picking evidence that fits their worldview and ignoring whatever doesn’t

C.S. Lewis wrote about this in an essay called First and Second Things. He said that paradoxically, you're more likely to get what you want when getting it isn't the most important thing in your life. If you put the highest thing first, you'll often get the second thing as well. Put the second thing first, and you'll lose both.
Rory McIlroy on the paradox of chasing success.
“I think it would be a pretty unfulfilling pursuit if you’re just chasing records and chasing results…If all you’re thinking about is winning and results, you’re playing the wrong game.”
One of the great paradoxes of performance is that the outcomes we want are rarely achieved by obsessing over the outcomes themselves.
Ironically, the less your identity depends on the outcome, the more freedom you often have to perform at your best.

...but I think it is something of a fucking miracle that graspingness is not causative to greatness.
...the top 10% in the world have to completely white knuckle it at the cost of their well-being and sanity but the very best are totally effortless.
