I used to think that Africa was technologically behind until my cousin and I partnered with a major $100B fund and had to search for ventures doing $1m ARR and ready to IPO in 3 years. I met companies I never knew could exist in Africa. My favorite made airplane parts here.
Then Aerobotics blew my mind away as their market is now in America. The real people building amazing stuff in Africa are not seeking validation from the African media; they are quietly building and going global.
This is why AI references about African tech based on media announcements alone annoy me. There is so much we don't know about Africa, and we are not even making enough effort to know.
