We believe 💎 Everyone should be able to read and publish research for free 🌍 Research publishing should be commonly owned and run, not for profit 🔢 All data should be open and re-usable We are delighted to announce a new open publishing initiative nmop.io

I am stuck in an ICE at a town called Bebra on my way to #BernsteinConference, so it’s a perfect time to advertise the workshop on Advances in network dynamics of in vitro neural systems that @PaulSpitzner and I have organized 1/n tinyurl.com/yhknpdyh

Very proud to share my first #tweeprint 👇 Thanks to H.Yamamoto, T.Takemuro, @vbuendiar, M.Munoz, @jozierenberg, J.Soriano and @ViolaPriesemann, I really enjoyed working on this one!
Want to find out how modular architecture and noisy input go hand-in-hand in neuronal cultures to control the typically bursty dynamics? arxiv.org/abs/2205.10563 Thanks to H.Yamamoto, @PaulSpitzner, T.Takemuro, @vbuendiar, M.Muñoz, @jozierenberg, J.Soriano etal

I can never remember what all the different open access names mean (gold, green, diamond, etc.). How about instead we refer to an $X+$Y journal/paper, where $X is the amount of your own money you've wasted, and $Y is the amount of everyone else's money you've wasted?

Most scientists from the Global South are not able to afford Open Access (OA). An OA article can equal 3 or 4 of our monthly salaries or the full yearly amount of one of our grants. This discriminatory situation creates a double-standard in science dissemination.

Thoughts?
Alternative model of review where a paper is sent out to various researchers with no obligation for them to look at it or respond but giving them the opportunity to do so. They can write a critique that is attached to the paper unless authors can convince them to retract.

Gut so, Party! Aber hier ist das Problem. [1/8]

Today I opened this Twitter account for my research group and the first preprint I want to advertise is from our collaboration with Adam Packer @paqio and his wonderful group at Oxford. First the fun, then the science. Have a good read! nitter.cf/paqio/status/147940989…
The brain is built on a principle of division of labour, where anatomically distinct regions perform specialised tasks. But how are messages sent round the brain allowing regions to communicate? Read on and see our preprint to find out the answer! biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Exakt.
