Should websites be forced to explain their #password storage policies? If they're hashed, explain what algorithms you use. If you keep old, expired passwords, how are those protected? Original hash, truncated k-anon etc?

Can we please drop the "told you so", one-upmanship nonsense surrounding the #onlineSafetyAct? These people aren't fools. They're malevolent. Functioning as intended doesn't make the inevitable escalation any less dangerous. Stop taking their press releases at face value. They're designed to shape the narrative, deflect criticism, and distract us from the bigger picture. This was never about online safety. This is mass #surveillance, drip-fed to the naïve & well-intentioned as "child safety" until it's too late & too expensive to go back.

‼️ BREAKING: eMudhra, the Indian certificate authority whose private key was the number 4, is quitting the TLS business. It blames social media for scrutiny "out of proportion" to a unit worth ~1% of revenue. 8 of its CA keys were numbers below 256, cracked in milliseconds.

On a lighter note, the industry response to #php2shell has been remarkable. A hill I'll happily die on, @cloudflare has transformed the web perhaps more than any other. Their entirely free (but partial) mitigation gave many firms the breathing room they desperately needed. Hat tip.
