Timeline of what happened in today's Binance hack: - I see my Binance widget on my homescreen, crypto is crashing, there has to be a reason... - I open X, see reports that Binance got hacked with a bunch of etherscan screenshots - I find the hacker's wallet address and check it on USDT and USDC smart contracts - Address was not yet blacklisted - I made the post quoted below - I checked again 10 minutes later, the hacker's wallet got blacklisted on both USDT and USDC smart contracts Here's my advice if you notice unusual activity at this scale, instead of posting screenshots, it's better to share useful information for people that can take action to take action This is our obligation as participants in this space Social media interactions are not meaningless This is how we can amplify the message to reach the right people that can take helpful action I will never know whether I directly or indirectly contributed to the freeze of the stolen assets But if information was shared fast enough with a simple call to action the freeze would have definitely happened sooner Do not celebrate anyone's downfall All exchanges are facing similar risks Both CEXs and DEXs DEXs are facing risks at even higher levels because the funds sit in hot wallets and smart contracts, CEXs keep most of their funds on cold wallets Times like this remind us why we need to come together as an industry to move forward Do the right thing. Always. If the hacker/exploiter is reading this message, I highly recommend you to return all of the stolen assets back to who they belong. There is digital footprint and your crime is onchain, you may think that you can get away with it, but it's much harder than you think it is. Authorities are now using AI to hunt down hackers and they got so much better and faster at it. You will probably retire your entire bloodline if you decide to do the right thing and take a bounty.

All crypto CEXs, DEXs, stablecoin issuers, custodians, hot wallets, cold wallets and DeFi protocls should communicate closely with one another. Preferably create a dedicated channel to share findings about possible exploits with one another to keep the industry safe.
