NEW: One day after Catholic voters rejected the Trump-Vance administration in the midterms, Pope Leo XIV welcomed Bob Dylan to the Vatican.
This summer the pope quoted Dylan’s unrecorded protest song “Go Away You Bomb” to make his case against nuclear weapons as the war in Iran ground on.
On Wednesday, he gave the songwriter a rosary. thelettersfromleo.com/p/pope…

Official ranking of generations:
1. Millennials (1981–1996) — Last normal generation. Grew up without Hinge, TikTok or pronouns in bios.
2. Gen X (1965–1980) — Built different. Independent, tough, hooked up the old school way (in person)
3. Greatest Generation (1901–1927) — Fought actual wars instead of online wars. Hardworking but probably dead.
4. Gen Z (1997–2012) — Hinge addicts, situationships, gym bros and liberal activists.
5. Silent Generation (1928–1945) — Worked hard, kept quiet, got married at 21. They’re dependable and content with the American dreams.
6. Gen Alpha (2013–2024) — iPad kids with brain rot. Already cooked.
7. Boomers (1946–1964) — Bought houses for $40K, ruined the economy and tell us to stop buying $8 coffees. Resistant to change.

This is wild! 😱
🇳🇴 Norwegian side Viking FK fielded just ONE player who wasn't from Norway against Sabah in the Champions League!
🇦🇿 Azerbaijani side Sabah FK, on the other hand, fielded just ONE player from Azerbaijan in the very same game 😅
Same competition. Same pitch. Two VERY different approaches to squad building 🌍😂

The prophecy has been fulfilled.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
The stained glass image is not a real historical window or prophecy but appears AI-generated to match the real Vatican photo of Pope Leo XIV meeting Bob Dylan shown alongside it. No matching historic artifact exists.

When Trump is gone - and he will be - and Trumpism finally subsides - which it will - history will speak to the size and fervor of the cult; how easily so many were gaslit; how they embraced the most flawed cult leader EVER; how they rallied around grievance just for the sake of grievance; how they railed against their own freakin' best interests; and how they succumbed to such an obvious con.
History will also speak to The People rising up - saying "no more" and saying it resoundingly across the country.
But - mark my words - the real unforeseen disaster that almost took down the American experiment - that the history books will record as such - will not have been about Trump OR the cult - it will have been our media's widespread normalization of a madman.
And from what I've seen so far today, as he rants about his sold-out rallies that WEREN'T sold out, and his vandalized pool that WASN'T vandalized, they're still doing it. It makes no sense anymore and needs to stop!

🇺🇸 Today, I had the privilege and the joy of accompanying #BobDylan to meet Pope Leo, together with Andrea Monda. It was hard not to feel the emotion of being part of an encounter that had a real sense of history about it, with the feeling that, at every step through the Apostolic Palace, absolutely anything could happen! Carlo Feltrinelli and Susan Pullman were also with us. On July 31, Pope Leo had met with Patti Smith. I’m writing about it in L’Osservatore Romano.

Patrick Stewart on Trump (2017): “You might say to me, well, you’re not an American, what has it got to do with you? The fact is when America sneezes, the world catches a cold. America I think is on the edge of a very bad flu infection and it’s because of the man who’s in the White House”

A classic chart to counter the wisdom of crowds idea. US Americans are absolutely clueless about how common things are. They think over a quarter of Americans are Native Americans, one in five Americans is transgender, over a quarter of the population are Muslim, one in five households earn over half a million dollars. The right answer to all of these questions is 1%. They build their worldview on totally incorrect assumptions towards reality. Data literacy matters.

Left: President Trump insults Norway calling it a sh*thouse country
Right: Visit Norway, the tourism board, trolls President Trump, displaying some of their best toilets on their Instagram 😅
My view:
Trump chose to insult Norway. Visit Norway answered with humour, confidence and a showcase of its most beautiful loos.
That’s how you turn an insult into an invitation. Congratulations to Norway for responding with such grace - and giving us another reason to visit.
I've never been to Norway, but this is just another reason to visit 😁

American living in Oslo here- My kids go to a daycare that I could never possibly afford in the U.S. Outside for hours every day, daily lunch provided, weekly field trips. The U.S. could never.
Norway is welcoming. Filled with kind people and community.
Hope this helps.
WARNING: STRONG LANGUAGE
President Trump escalated his invective against Norway, calling it a ‘shit house country’ and saying Norwegian immigrants are not welcome in the United States because the Nobel committee, based in the capital Oslo, has not awarded him a Peace Prize reut.rs/3U1joSt
