Friends, a lot is happening, but please allow me a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of kindness I have received since the @BPRbankrw leadership transition was announced.
As I conclude my tenure as BPR MD, my heart is filled with gratitude for the privilege of serving this remarkable institution.
I joined the bank during one of the most transformative and challenging periods in the Bank's history, following the KCB/BPR merger. Oh how far we have come! Raising my head a little the last weeks has enabled me to have a deep appreciation of how much we have achieved and where the bank stands today. What kept us going was the opportunity to serve the people who place their trust in us every day: our customers, partners, shareholders, our communities, and most importantly, our staff.
Our brand purpose; “For People, For Better”, deeply reflects my own values. I have always believed that leadership is about service, and service is ultimately about people. In every decision we make and every initiative we pursue, our goal is simple: to leave the lives of those we touch a little better than we found them.
To everyone who is part of this journey, thank you. Thank you for your trust, your support, your partnership, and the opportunity to serve. I do not take any of it lightly, my heart is full 💚

A monumental chapter comes to a close at @BPRbankrw , marking a significant milestone in Rwanda’s financial landscape.
The bank has officially confirmed that Managing Director @Peshmutesi will be stepping down on October 31, 2026, to pursue new interests and embark on the next chapter of her professional journey.
Since taking the helm in February 2023, Patience has provided nothing short of visionary leadership. Stepping into the role immediately following the high-stakes, historic merger of KCB Bank Rwanda and @BPRbankrw , she faced the immense challenge of unifying two distinct financial cultures. Not only did she successfully navigate this complex post-merger integration, but she also accelerated the bank’s commercial momentum to unprecedented heights.
The metrics achieved during her tenure speak volumes about her strategic execution:
✅ Led the lender’s transformation into a massive powerhouse, scaling total assets to a staggering Rwf 1.4 trillion by 2025.
✅ Supercharged financial performance, delivering a record-breaking net profit of Rwf 40.9 billion in 2025 representing a phenomenal 35% year-on-year growth.
✅ Secured global acclaim for the institution, proudly receiving the prestigious Bank of the Year Rwanda award from The Banker (Financial Times) for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025).
Patience brought a deep commitment to regional trade integration, inclusive finance, and robust corporate governance to the banking sector, strengths honed during her prior impactful years as the Rwanda Country Director for TradeMark East Africa.
While Xavier Mugisha will step in as the Acting Managing Director from November 1, the legacy Patience leaves behind forms a solid blueprint for BPR Bank Rwanda's future.
