BIG LOWERING ON A TORNADO WARNED SUPERCELL NEAR HARRISBURG PA #pawx
A year later, I have found at least one tornado so far that has a higher average lifetime VROT than Mayfield.
That one tornado: Duke, Oklahoma, with a 79.72 kt average VROT.
My main project at the moment is getting all the significant, long-lived tornadoes from 2023-today. I'm going to have to double-check the QLCS cases I possibly missed before I move on to the rest of 2020-2022, but progress has been going strong over the past 2 weeks.

(1/4) Alright, snow fans! The moment you've all been waiting for has arrived: my 2026-2027 Winter Outlook! Two primary winter-season influences will be our Super, east-based El Niño and slightly-negative Pacific Decadal Oscillation (PDO)..

Flipping a coin is causing a generational debate in my Stats & Decision Making in Earth Science class that I haven't seen since yesterday on WxTwitter.
It is October 27th on WxTwitter.
We are arguing whether a frontal passage is a cold front or a warm front (It was a cold front how is this a debate).
The winter weenies are arguing we are going to see an epic winter in the region (we aren't, most likely).
Life is good.
A new episode of "Hauler Talk" has just dropped. A few takeaways:
-- NASCAR is saying that to get penalized for going below the double yellow line, a car must have the whole tire down there AND improve the position AND not be forced down there. So three things.
-- In Kyle Larson's case, he didn't go below the yellow line (was on it), so it's a moot point.
-- Austin Hill would likely have been black-flagged if he hadn't already finished as the last car on the lead lap. He was not forced below the line by Larson in Turn 2, NASCAR felt; Hill went down there himself AND improved his position. But they didn't call anything because the penalty would have put him right where he was.
-- Ross Chastain and Carson Hocevar went below the line but were not penalized because they were forced below the line by Todd Gilliland, NASCAR felt.
-- NASCAR looked at penalizing Gilliland but it was inconclusive whether he forced them down there on purpose, so they didn't make a call (but they could have and it was close, apparently).
I love Talladega, but we cannot have a superspeedway race this late in the playoffs. We're coming in with a dogfight with 3 races to go, to Larson having a 73-point lead with 2 races to go. All the more legitimate hype destroyed in one week.
#NASCAR... Sunday at Talladega put a damper on what was going to be a captivating first title battle under this format. It's clear: A superspeedway SHOULDN'T be the 34th race in a 36-race season.
It's time to move it. For the sake of the championship.

I have nothing nice or appropriate to say about the majority of the race that is (currently factual). I hate this sport.
I'll see you next week.
