They have the scans and then a vet can say a horse has “a change in its gait, compared to last time.” What on earth does that mean? I understand the abundance of caution in light of the fatalities years ago, but honestly, this is overkill.
Racing Victoria veterinarians today conducted the first of two pre-race physical veterinary inspections of horses entered in the $10.2 million Lexus Melbourne Cup (3200m) at Flemington on Tuesday, 3 November. A total of 36 horses were examined today by RV veterinarians. racingvictoria.com.au/news/2…

Dismal. Those that consider themselves purists drive this crazy ideology. What you end up with is every often uncompetitive races like the Victoria Cup a fortnight ago with a 1.10 fav leading all the way. 🤷‍♂️
The Auckland Cup, one of NZ’s two biggest traditional pacing races, will change from 3200m stand to 2700m mobile for this year’s edition on New Year’s Eve at Alexandra Park. Move could entice more younger pacing stars and/or mares to start.

Just found this interesting and surprising. 🤷‍♂️
This is the Hillary Clinton I know. As some of you know, I was the Air Force Military Aide for Bill Clinton, lived in the White House, traveled everywhere they traveled, and carried the “nuclear football.” As such, I was always in close proximity to both Bill and Hill. Among the military who served in the White House and the professional White House staff, the Clinton administration was infamously known for its lack of professionalism and courtesy, though few ever spoke about it. But when it came to rudeness, it was Hillary Clinton who was the most feared person in the administration. She set the tone. From the very first day in my assignment. When I first arrived to work in the White House, my predecessor warned me. “You can get away with pissing off Bill but if you make her mad, she’ll rip your heart out.” I heeded those words. I did make him mad a few times, but I never really pissed her off. I knew the ramifications. I learned very quickly that the administration’s day-to-day character, whether inside or outside of DC, depended solely on the presence or absence of Hillary. Her reputation preceded her. We used to say that when Hillary was gone, it was a frat party. When she was home, it was “Schindler’s List.” In my first few days on the job, and remember I essentially lived there, I realized there were different rules for Hillary. She instructed the senior staff, including me, that she didn’t want to be forced to encounter us. We were instructed that “whenever Mrs. Clinton is moving through the halls, be as inconspicuous as possible.” She did not want to see “staff” and be forced to “interact” with anyone. No matter their position in the building. Many a time, I’d see mature, professional adults, working in the most important building in the world, scurrying into office doorways to escape Hillary’s line of sight. I’d hear whispering, “She’s coming, she’s coming!” I could be walking down a West Wing hallway, midday, busier than hell, people doing the administration’s work whether in the press office, medical unit, wherever. She’d walk in and they’d scatter. She was the Nazi schoolmarm and the rest of us were expected to hide as though we were kids in trouble. I wasn’t a kid, I was a professional officer and pilot. I said “I’m not doing that.” There was also a period of time when she attempted to ban military uniforms in the White House. It was the reelection year of 1996, and she was trying to craft the narrative that the military was not a priority in the Clinton administration. As a military aide, carrying the football, and working closely with the Secret Service, I objected to that. It simply wasn’t a matter of her political agenda; it was national security. If the balloon went up, the Secret Service would need to find me as quickly as possible. Seconds matter. Finding the aide in military uniform made complete sense. Besides, what commander in chief wouldn’t want to advertise his leadership and command? She finally relented because the Secret Service weighed in. The Clintons are corrupt beyond words. Hillary is evil, vindictive, and profane. Hillary is a bitch.

Correct. Using Starlink, a civilian commercial service, for offensive drone strikes to kill people has never been allowed, nor should it be. Starshield, a different system, is controlled by the US government. What they decide to do is up to them. Ukraine military violated Starlink terms of service and used it for offensive drone strikes to kill people. That loophole was closed last week. Starlink remains critical to the defense of Ukraine, as it is the only system that cannot be jammed or blown up, at least for now. Were Starlink to be turned off, the Ukrainian front line would collapse immediately. This is NOT a threat, it is simply a statement of fact. Starlink was also crucial to preventing Russia from overrunning Ukraine in the early days of the war, as all other means of communication were destroyed or jammed by Russia. SpaceX has done more to defend Ukraine than any private company on Earth BY FAR. That said, I have nothing but UTTER CONTEMPT for the virtue-signaling evil warmongers who push for endless slaughter and offer no realistic solution to the conflict. May you burn in hell. End of story.
STARLINK WORKS THE SAME WAY ITS ALWAYS WORKED. ITS NOT A WEAPONS SYSTEM, NO MATTER HOW MUCH UKRAINE WANTS IT TO BE.

Aeliana is now 1/7 in Melb and has been beaten at her last six attempts in a row there. Of course all of those have been in Spring. Perhaps she is just a better horse in the Autumn or maybe the Sydney way, although her Carbine win two years ago was terrific 🤷‍♂️

The only way Proxima Dea doesn’t win the Oaks is if she either doesn’t start or breaks down in the race. Her form is so vastly superior to the Melb fillies. Biggest moral since Samantha Miss ran third in the Cox Plate on her way to the Oaks. 2.30 is an absolute gimme.

So many people believing their selection was correct in the Cox Plate, but the tempo/ride cost them a win. It was run at fast pace and every horse had its chance. Went too fast/ was ridden too close/should have waited longer, etc etc. the horse that ran the faster time over the distance finished first. THAT’S THE RACE! The pace shape was well known in advance. You cannot win at punting in the long run unless you accept what actually happened and when you just plain got it wrong.

Is the person in charge of the official prices on a little comm from the corps? Virtually every bookie in the land was 23.0 or 26.0 the winner in Sydney but best fluc reported at 21.0. It was actually the WORST price available anywhere 👎

I’m stunned that Kerrin McEvoy had 3600 rides over 6 years without a whip infringement but couldn’t get a concession of 1 meeting when it comes to penatly at an appeal. The system is clearly broken in Victoria when a panel refuses to acknowledge an incredibly good record

If you wonder where your hard earned tax dollars go, latest auditor general report from Vic COVID response. . $771m of unused PPE equipment written off. $397m paid to ineligible recipients in grants out of a total of $12b. All in all $40 billion was spent on the Covid response in Vic which ironically left the Vic economy on its knees. 🤷‍♂️ But, if you are a single Mum and you worked a few extra hours for cash in hand, woe betide you. They will be onto that $60 of lost revenue like lightning.

It just doesn’t make sense that all the high paid execs at Tabcorp, introduced the one pool without being aware of the corps offering the bonuses. As in, literally doesn’t make sense. Surely, they weren’t so naive to realities of the wagering landscape? Somebody must have said, hang on……
One Pool If the One Pool is holding 1/2 of what is holding now in 12 months I’d be extremely surprised . With rounding it’s 118 on the board. Unless you get a rebate or a complete mug who would bet there?

Those Brisbane track managers must be having withdrawal symptoms this week. Looks like they won’t be able to water at all, (just to be on the safe side,) with tracks heavy and more rain forecast. Thoughts and prayers.

Five years in jail for not paying income tax on $1m 🤷‍♂️
Richard Hatch won $1,000,000 on the first season of Survivor. The IRS says he now owes $3.3 million on it. 51 million people watched him win in August 2000. He never paid the tax on the prize. His defense: he says he caught producers sneaking food to other players, and the show promised to cover his taxes if he won. CBS never commented. The appeals court said he never showed any proof of a deal. In 2006 a jury convicted him. He served 51 months in federal prison. In 2011 he went back for nine more, for not fixing his returns. Then the bill kept growing. This March, 26 years after the finale, a federal judge let the IRS collect about $3.3 million with interest. The government put liens on two of his homes in Newport. He is appealing on his own, without a lawyer. In the video below he explains why he thinks the tax was never his to pay. "The taxes on the million were required by law… to have been paid to Malaysia before we left the island… by CBS or Mark Burnett." The case for Hatch: if the show made that promise, he was set up. The case for the IRS: a $1 million check is income. Everyone else pays theirs. Was the first Survivor winner played by the show, or did he try to outwit the wrong player?

Identical situation last week with Sheza Alibi returning 1.01 for the place in a pay 1-2 situation. The place percentage for the other runners (final) was 115%. So, 215% overall. SA real price must have been .80. So, with the 10-15% rebate, rebate bettors got 1.10 or 1.15, rank and file totally shafted with money back. Fixed odds was 1.10. Classic example of how regular punters actually just paid the 10% rebate to the whales. It’s a scandal but simply not one outlet remotely interested in exposing this rort.
Something interesting from The Everest on Saturday. The World Pool WIN market displayed on Sky just before the jump was 113.55%. The FINAL dividends produced a market of 121.38%. Ka Ying Rising remained at $1.04 throughout, but was his actual pool price considerably shorter than the minimum displayed dividend? Is this a consequence of rounding, late pool reconciliation, or something else? Whatever the explanation, that's a HUGE difference between the market punters were shown at the jump and the dividends ultimately declared. Would love to understand exactly what's happening here #TheGreatGame
