Judson Bennett passed away Saturday, May 2, 2026. I came to know Judson because of his interest in the @TransPerfect case in Delaware Chancery Court. In many ways, our case was a precursor to the controversial set of Elon Musk cases that would follow. Jud was a prolific writer and publisher of op-ed articles, taking a conservative viewpoint in the liberal state of Delaware. He interviewed countless TransPerfect employees during—what I'll politely describe as—our wranglings with the Chancery Court and Chancellor Andre Bouchard in particular, starting back in 2014. During a period in which the Court was routinely issuing gag orders surrounding our case, Judson was unafraid to speak out. He sought to hold government actors, including judges, accountable for controversial, conflicted and self-interested decisions. Based on what he learned during the TransPerfect case, Jud foresaw the controversies that Chancery would create—and attempted to spare Delaware the resulting exodus of corporations. Personally, I want to thank Mr. Bennett for giving a voice to the TransPerfect families negatively impacted by the Chancery’s decisions from 2014 to 2018.
