Preschool teachers — when practising phonemic awareness skills: ✅Don’t just focus on the initial sound of a word — help children hear phonemes anywhere in a word. 🖐️Use phoneme fingers so students can see the position of each sound in a word. A simple but powerful visual! ✨

"ea" in "bread" ≠ "ea" in "bean" ≠ "ea" in "break" 😖 This is code overlap - and it's exactly why phonics needs explicit teaching, not guessing. When a team has multiple pronunciations: name it. Discuss it. Don't skip it.

"Bossy e." "Magic e." "Silent e." ⛔ ✋ Stop saying these. The e in "bike" isn't silent or bossy - it's split from its vowel team partner. "i_e" is one spelling, not two rules governing the 'i' and the 'e'. Learn more in our split digraphs blog post: phonicshero.com/how-to-teach…

From decoding… to understanding. 🚀 The final game in every Part 3 level challenges children to read and comprehend a passage of decodable text. Because the goal of phonics isn’t just reading words — it’s unlocking stories. 📚

If your phonemes aren’t ‘pure’… Kids might get by in reading, but spelling? That’s where it all goes 'bada'! 😅 Make sure you’re not adding extra vowels, like “tuh” or “puh”, to the ends of sounds — it makes a huge difference for spelling success. ✍️
