We were live in Kano yesterday as NU Synergy commissioned two CNG refuelling stations and a conversion centre, adding to the growing CNG infrastructure across the state. From virtually zero refuelling stations to 12 in about a year, Kano’s clean mobility story is moving fast. The new facilities along Zaria Road and Mariri/Wudil Road mean more access to CNG, more conversion options for motorists, and more room for private-sector participation in the ecosystem. And to mark the launch, motorists enjoyed free CNG refuelling for the day. Kano is making progress. Here are the key updates and highlights from our engagement: 📊 Publishing Safety Records: To build public confidence in CNG adoption, we highlighted the need to track and publish safety data, such as reporting incident-free operational hours. 🛠️ Enforcing Technician Standards: We discussed building stronger linkages with conversion centres and ensuring technicians strictly adhere to standards to prevent quality issues, such as gate valve leaks that lower vehicle mileage. ⛽ Overcoming Infrastructure Bottlenecks: We reviewed progress on the three-year-old presidential directive on CNG adoption, focusing on station rollouts along key corridors and fleet conversion planning. 📋Clear Operational Guidelines: Step-by-step registration guidelines are being structured for industry players to ensure sector growth happens systematically rather than by chance.
