I don't think anything makes me as angry as the Hetzner console/konsoleh does.

What is the economic impact of immigrants in Europe? Do they pay more taxes or receive more welfare? There's very little data, but this is ALL I could find across the EU: 1. NETHERLANDS It has the best data While a Nordic immigrant contributes >€200k, a Somalian costs >€600k

Super excited and proud to launch Huck, a neat Apple Watch app that I've built to solve a real-world problem that I've had: keeping score while playing Ultimate Frisbee! Check it out on Product Hunt!

What is the name for the size a company gets when the company laptop becomes fully managed and you can’t use the apps that have made you productive no mo? 🤔

Seeing @natebargatze and @TheMidnightLA in the same week is the kind of mental detox I need right now.

The reason why clockspeed matters so much in a company is the compounding value of the thousands of small little decisions and incremental steps that turn into the ultimate value customers see. The small things going quickly end up being much more important than you realize.

One of the things that I think is sad about the decimation of Twitter eng is that Twitter was doing a lot of interesting (and high ROI) engineering work that, at younger companies, is mostly outsourced to "the cloud" or open source projects A few examples off the top of my head:

When Safari Tab Groups launched they made no sense to me - who would use it?! Now, I almost can’t use my browser without it - so useful for grouping context, tasks, problems, etc.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: A staff developer who works in isolation and presents only fully-formed solutions is not a staff developer.

When engineers say a “design is not possible,” they really mean “not possible within the timeframe,” because anything is possible if you value it enough to dedicate time & resources.
Folks. When apps minimize into the Dynamic Island when dismissed, they drop into the island differently based on the physics of your “throw”…! Toss the app straight up, and it’s a normal bounce. But throw a curveball, and the opposite side bulges out to catch. I LOVE THIS 100%

I really enjoyed this WWDC session about SwiftUI API design. It shares good principles that you can apply every day. developer.apple.com/wwdc22/1…
Having strong technical leadership has lots of advantages, but one of them is it naturally leads to a healthier cadence. These folks typically have to be home for dinner, and they're old enough to know that death marches don't work.
