ALT Utah Democratic Elected Officials and Candidates Express Deep Disappointment in Equality Utah’s Endorsements SALT LAKE COUNTY, UTAH — Today, a coalition of Utah Democratic elected officials and candidates expressed deep disappointment in Equality Utah’s decisions to pass over, or endorse against, several strong openly queer candidates running for office across Utah this cycle. “Equality Utah has a long history we respect, which is exactly why this cycle’s endorsements are so disappointing,” the officials said in a joint statement. “There were talented, openly queer candidates on the ballot this year, running real, competitive campaigns, and in multiple races Equality Utah either declined to endorse them or endorsed their opponents instead. That’s not a small oversight. It’s a departure from what this organization is supposed to stand for.”
