EMS Training Tuesday!
This fall, all Pittsburgh paramedics and emergency medical technicians will complete an 8-hour continuing education session at the EMS Training Division.
Crews will participate in classroom education followed by scenario-based training in safe sedation practices, Emergency Vehicle Operations, Hazardous Materials Medicine, and Incident Command.
This course ensures that the more than 200 providers at Pittsburgh EMS function as a well-trained team during complex incidents.
Pittsburgh EMS provides all required continuing education internally through our Training Division, ensuring all providers have enough CEUs to keep their certifications up to date.
GHOULISH VIBES!

As the first-ever Citizens Fire Academy winds down, the heat was on during live fire training today!
In week seven, participants had the chance to do live flashover training at the Allegheny County Fire Academy. They suited up in turnout gear and learned about fire behavior and smoke conditions inside a controlled environment. Rain or shine, the class gained hands-on insight into the challenges firefighters face on the job.
In the afternoon, the class learned the proper technique for using a fire extinguisher with the PASS method: pull, aim, squeeze, and sweep.
Next week, participants will wrap up the academy with their final class and graduation ceremony!
