📝This week’s Budget has already reminded us of Andy Burnham’s commitment to empowering the regions of England, but I will point out that it was all but silent on Wales.
Warm words matter little when what we need is deeds.
"We cannot lift people out of poverty in a lasting and meaningful way without having greater control over our economy," @RhunapIorwerth calls on Andy Burnham to give Wales the same powers as Scotland

Today I’m in Glasgow, representing Wales in the National Economic Council.
This is the Prime Minister’s opportunity to prove his commitment to a respect agenda that works both ways.
That means pledging not to bypass the Senedd, and not to treat Wales effectively as a region of England.
I will be urging the Prime Minister to pursue a range of measures to improve the lives of the people of Wales.
These include:
📈 proposing a new Growth Partnership between the Welsh and UK Governments to boost prosperity in all parts of our nation.
💰 A fairer funding settlement.
🏴 Parity of powers with Scotland through a new Wales Bill.
🚂 And delivering without delay on the £14bn rail funding commitment the UK Government has already made to Wales.
To name but a few.
Under a Plaid Cymru Welsh Government, Wales will never be silent on the issues that matter to our communities.

At PMQs, Burnham made a weak offer to devolve employment support – an overdue commitment made by Starmer in 2024.
Today, he must show greater respect for Wales.
We need parity with Scotland, fair funding and the powers we need to grow our economy.

UK Government committed to deliver money to fund rail projects back in February.
Welsh Government are ready to go, but with only 3% of the promised funding, Labour in Westminster are holding Wales back.
UK Government derails Welsh rail vision. @markjhooper responds:
“It’s an insult to the people of Wales.
Their failure to invest in their network in Wales demonstrates the need for devolution of rail.
Wales deserves fair and reasonable funding”

Roedd sgandal HS2 yn ddigon gwael, ond mae Cymru ar ei cholled unwaith eto.
Addawodd Llafur £14 biliwn i'n rheilffyrdd, ond yr oll rydym wed'i gael yw ailgyhoeddiad o £30 miliwn.
Bydd Plaid Cymru yn parhau i sefyll dros Gymru a mynnu ein bod yn cael yr hyn sy'n ddyledus i ni.

🚨 Welsh rail has been short-changed again.
UK Labour's £14bn rail promise has translated into a recycled announcement of £30m in this Autumn Budget. That doesn't even cover the cost of Cardiff Parkway Station.
Wales voted for a fairer deal from Westminster. On rail, we're still waiting to see it. 🥀

If HS2 wasn't bad enough, Wales has been shafted again.
Labour promised £14 billion for Welsh rail, but all we've got is a rehashed announcement of £30 million.
Plaid Cymru will continue to stand up for Wales and demand that we get what we're owed.

£450m over three years sounds impressive until you look at the detail.
Wales would have needed a further £350m in 2027-28 alone just to avoid a real-terms cut to day-to-day spending.
This underwhelming Budget delivers the worst funding settlement for Wales in years.

£450m extra to Wales…. Brilliant! That is if it was for 1 year.
This is for THREE years. 3.
Put that into context. Leeds station is getting £303 MILLION for renovations.
One station. £303m
One nation. £450m.

Over £300 million for Leeds station.
Just £30 million for Welsh rail - and even that is a recycled announcement.
How can Labour possibly claim this is a fair deal for Wales?

The £100 payment for Welsh households follows UK Chancellor John Healey's Budget announcement of the policy for England, with equivalent funding provided to Wales via the Barnett formula; the Plaid Cymru-led Welsh government is passing it on.

1/2 Seems the budget was p**** poor for rail enhancements in Wales. £30M toward Parkway is welcome, but doesn't materially address the funding injustice (into £Bns & impacts WG health, education £) - also in the budget +£300m for Leeds station! FYI @SKinnock @RhunapIorwerth >

Where was the ambition for Wales in this budget?
No attempt to right past wrongs, no real cost-of-living support, and no fair deal for our nation.
Despite big promises, it seems that while the faces in Downing Street may have changed, the Treasury's approach to Wales has not.
