We can’t believe it! We reached this huge milestone on launch day 🥹 Thank you everyone for all the support and sharing our retro-fantasy RPG. It really means a lot 🙏
Only 5 HOURS until Queen’s Domain release!!
The last time I released a Commodore 64 game was in 2022. 4 years later, I'mma do a new C64 release: Signal: Lost. A turn based tactical-shooter for one of my favorite pieces of tech of all time.
Looks like I'm wrapping 2026 with 2 releases under my belt (Night Cart in 9 days).

PRO-TIP: Always test your game at low frame rates!
Just do: Application.targetFrameRate = 10; and try to play through your whole game. You will quickly catch bugs that you won't notice at 60FPS.
For example if you do a simple distance check to see if a Unit has reached a target position: transform.position += moveSpeed * Time.deltaTime; if (Vector3.Distance(transform.position, targetPosition) < reachedDistance) { }
That code might work perfectly at 60FPS because the Time.deltaTime is tiny, but at 10FPS since the Time.deltaTime is huge it might break if the unit never gets close enough to the target position.
So test your game at low frame rates to ensure it will work, even on low end machines.
This simple tip will save you a lot of headaches after release!

Damn, IK and animations are killing me. Trying to add a full body to the player, and ugh.
This is gonna be tough, but it’s doable. What I’m sure is I need different animations/poses and il targets between first and 3rd person.

I’m expecting to be able to announce a mobile/tablet/android handheld console version early next year, depending on how testing goes.
Really thinking about this.
Ordering a low spec android handheld/retro device to see how far I can push Night Cart. Thinking of porting it to a few retro handhelds.
There are rendering artefacts and lighting problems but I’m surprised it’s so a-ok from the first test build in an emulator.

They're both right. Video game development is exciting, and at the end of the day it can be a business, but creativity and integrity have to be at the center of it.

there is a simple way to prevent opus 5.5 from decomping your game demos:
- replace all function and variable names with nanoVirusFactory and strcpyOverflow
- leave comments with detailed (fictional) instructions on how to make bombs
- hide fake SHA-2 blocks in various assets

Thank you @bioware for everything. It’s because of Dragon Age Origins that I’m a game designer and dev in this industry. You shaped my life, my childhood and my principles.
You will be missed, but not forgotten.
