Sunday August 9, 2026 was the 2nd annual @funktionfest lowrider showcase hosted by @iamtldstr at @makerradio and I had an absolute blast helping out with @chicocreativereuse and eyeballing all the lowriders. Back in the day I had a 1986 Cutlass Supreme Broghum and I've been excited about seeing lowriders moving out west since I hit Roswell, NM in March so I was more than happy @funktionfest was held at @makerradio this year. It was really cool seeing all the cars and the different customizations and different stages of work. Seeing all the custom bicycles was a really cool surprise too. My favorite definitely has to be the one that lit up when it got dark. The DJs' music choices from setup to breakdown was freaking phenomenal as well. I don't think there was a single song played I didn't like and numerous attendees made comments about how great the music was so kudos to everyone that DJed that night. @chicocreativereuse provided activities with a texture hunt using Play-Do, ink pads and rubber stamps as well as hosting the Maker's Match Reuse Rumble between artists @dragonboy56 and @thecraftycutie using reclaimed art materials from @chicocreativereuse. There were a few times I passed by @dragonboy56 with an almost mad scientist look searching for pieces for his sculpture. It wasn't until @thecraftycutie added her final touch to her piece that I really saw her full vision. It was really interesting to see what 2 different artists can do with access to the same exact materials and they're both so unique to each artist. And every time I walked by the CCR activity table there were people there making their own art and exploring. All the attendees really seemed to be enjoying themselves, there was a good selection of vendors and food trucks and it was wonderful seeing families and friends get together and enjoy their love of cars. Last night's @ilovebloodsugar show at @makerradio with @present_band & @rainbowcitypark was absolutely phenomenal. The place was absolutely packed, both the bands & the attendees brought great energy & all 3 bands are fantastic #femaleled #altrock bands. If you live in #norcal & you see any of these 3 bands playing in your area, GO! You definitely won't br disappointed! I honestly can't remember the last time I went to a show & saw so many people dancing & really getting into the music & the whole experience.
