It's turtles, all the way down.
ALT This image depicts a whimsically playful culinary presentation of chocolate, caramel, and pecan candies made to resemble small turtles with pecan feet, caramel heads and tails, and chocolate shells, arranged with one turtle stacked on the back of another turtle, surrounded by a small group of yet more, delicious and tempting candy turtles.

Tom Morello is worth $40 million and sells his "anti-establishment" t-shirts at Walmart.🙄
Tom Morello (@tmorello) says he didn't vote for Kamala Harris in 2024.
"I saw how the corporate Democrat sausage is made. It is worse than you think. And there is a righteous fury at the corporate-controlled, money-controlled electoral system we have that is absolutely illegitimate. And people cannot choke down voting for a candidate, I understand it, cannot choke down voting for a candidate that's responsible for what happened in Gaza. And they just, they can't do it."

I get that Angie Nixon is trying to coax the DSCC to pour money into her race the same way past longshot candidates like Jim Gray in Kentucky, Jason Kander in Missouri, and Theresa Greenfield in Iowa did, but accusing them of wanting you to lose because they're afraid of you is the absolute wrong way to do it. All it does is reinforce divisiveness in the party and create bad blood with your future colleagues.
You have to show you can raise money, and convince the party they are missing a real opportunity.
The Democratic Party does not have much money, in part because the DSA wing has scared off donors and because many with the potential to write big checks are too afraid of retaliation from Trump. So they have fewer resources than in past years, and Florida is not the 51st seat; it's the 56th.

This is simply false. There was no documented “day one” offer by Hamas to release all the hostages “unconditionally.”
Contemporary reporting describes negotiations over exchanges: Israeli women and children for Palestinian terrorists, and later broader releases in return for pauses, additional terrorist prisoners and other concessions. Nothing was unconditional.
I say this as a hostage family member who served as an international envoy for the hostage families and was privy to some of the discourse behind closed doors with relevant stakeholders. Those conversations concerned negotiations, conditions, categories of hostages and concessions, not the simplistic narrative you now declare “well established and proven.”
Hamas did not even treat many civilian men as civilians. My brother-in-law, Omri Miran, was a civilian father kidnapped from his home in Kibbutz Nahal Oz, in front of his wife and two little girls. He was held for 738 days, physically tortured, deprived of food and water, and psychologically abused.
Hamas used Omri and other beautiful human beings as bargaining chips: women, children, the elderly, civilian men, soldiers, Israelis and foreigners. Taking civilians hostage is a war crime, and captured soldiers cannot lawfully be held as hostages to coerce concessions either.
There is plenty to criticise about the Israeli government’s conduct, including decisions made during negotiations, even if those were ultimately decisions for a democratically elected government to make. Hostage families have hardly been silent about them, and many of us still demand accountability and the establishment of a national commission of inquiry.
But none of that transfers responsibility from the perpetrators: Hamas and its accomplices, and the state actors that funded and sponsored their activities.
That is what makes your rhetoric so repulsive. You erase Hamas’s agency, recast conditional negotiations as an unconditional “offer to release them on day one,” and shift responsibility from the hostage-takers to the society they attacked.
Hamas kidnapped these people, categorised them according to their value, demanded concessions for them, abused them and held people like Omri for years.
Turning that into “Israel refused to save them because it wanted vengeance” is not an established fact. It is an inversion of perpetrator and victim that sanitises Hamas’s responsibility for one of its most grotesque crimes, a distortion you have pushed in bad faith since the war Hamas launched on October 7.

Hamas offered to release them on day one, as now know, and Israel refused because they wanted war and vengeance over saving the hostages. This is now well established and proven, despite the lies from shills like you over the past three years

Massacring young people at a music festival and kidnaping children and elderly women is actually NOT standard practice in armed conflict.
The fact that in the West this kind of narrative was pushed down people's throats for years to make it seem normal is an example of the excuse factory that was built around these crimes.
I remember when I was in university some people would call it "armed struggle." What is armed struggle, a very clinical clean word? It is men jumping on a bus full of civilians and killing them, it is men blowing up a coffee shop, it is a sniper purposely murdering children.
The excuse factory invented the word "militant" as well to describe armed men gunning down civilians, blowing churches, massacring people at a synagogue...we all remember the use of the term "blast" as well to describe attacks on churches in places like Egypt or Sri Lanka or to describe attacks on Shi'ites in Pakistan and Afghanistan...it would always be "blast" kills hundreds. What kind of blast? A bombing caused by a person to target minorities.
The attempt to label every crime as if it is a norm was part of the method used.

I will never understand the Democrats on this platform who have a problem with the status quo on this. If a special action had been held by now, that election would’ve been won by… A republican, who would now be able to vote on bills in the Senate for the next few months. As it stands now, the Republicans are down one vote. Why are Democrats complaining about this? By the way, Beshear knows this, which is why he’s leaving well enough alone, exactly as he should.

Dems have a 10pt advantage on party identification over GOP, approaching its level of support in 2006 and 2008- during the second term of another Republican Pres who brought us into terrible war (Iraq), and who seemed impervious to the suffering of Americans (Katrina). We can build a big, resilient majority to defeat MAGA - and end this nightmare.

It’s either a vanity project by ex-staffers who don’t have the courage to own it, or an intentional op to try and push Fetterman into switching parties. Either way seems to lead to D’s needing 5 pick ups for the Senate majority.

@WajahatAli Let me be perfectly clear: I am sick of supposed leftists who do not understand politics outside of their own fucking zip codes trying to dictate how Black Democrats in the South are supposed to navigate ours.
Calling Hakeem Jeffries “AIPAC Shakur” is not clever. It is racist as fuck.
And attacking Southern Black Democrats because we stand with our Jewish communities ignores the political reality of the South. Black and Jewish coalitions have been organizing together down here for generations. Some of you have not poured a dollar, an organizer, or a meaningful resource into building Democratic power in the states you love lecturing us about.
We have spent generations fighting Republican control, voter suppression, gerrymandering, and the systematic destruction of Black political representation. We are still fighting for basic political power that many of you take for granted.
Yet somehow, you expect Southern Black voters and leaders to subordinate the needs of our communities to your ideological priorities while you contribute virtually nothing to building the majorities necessary to accomplish any of it.
That is not solidarity.
You do not get to demand Black political labor while disrespecting Black political leadership. You do not get to traffic in racism against Hakeem Jeffries and antisemitism against our Jewish allies and then call yourselves progressive.
And you damn sure do not get to dictate how we build coalitions in the South from the comfort of communities where you already have political power we are still fighting to obtain.
Worry about your own fucking communities.
We know what it takes to survive politically down here. We know who has stood beside us. And we will build the coalitions necessary to protect our communities whether you approve of them or not.
Fuck your racism. Fuck your antisemitism. And fuck the idea that Southern Black politics requires your permission.

I stand with Leader Jeffries.
I reject the ugly and racist rhetoric used against him.
Bernie Sanders, 2015: "Incremental progress is not good enough. We need a political revolution!"
Bernie Sanders2026: "Well, maybe we start with a bit of expanding coverage and benefits to a smaller sub-set of the population. Then, after a number of years, we may expand further."
.@AOC is right: We must expand Medicare to cover dental, vision and hearing and lower the eligibility age to 55 as part of the movement toward Medicare for All.
Let’s get it done.

The KY law was changed to prevent the governor from appointing a Democrat. If Mitch died before Aug 3 a primary would be held and Thomas Massie would have run. After Aug 3 the state GOP submits 3 names and the governor has to pick one.

Beshear couldn’t appoint a Democratic Senator. That was *never* the issue.
He could have scheduled a special election if Mitch was declared dead before the August 3 deadline, in which case Thomas Massie could have run and won.
That’s what they prevented from happening.

Generational change doesn’t happen by accident or fate—it takes leaders like Gloria Steinem who work hand in hand with so many others to build a lasting movement. The decades of energy, brilliance, and advocacy she devoted to women’s rights helped so many of us see that we belonged at the tables where decisions are made. Her dedication helped illuminate a simple truth: When women can stand in their power, they invite everyone else to stand a little taller, too. What a light she was for me and so many others. What a debt we owe her.
