Russia’s Kapotnya Oil Refinery in Moscow is on fire following an Ukrainian attack drone raid. The facility is considered one of the key sources of fuel for Moscow and Moscow Oblast. Any significant damage could further tighten local and regional fuel availability.

Wow. Head of the most staunchly pro-Israel think tank in DC warns 🇮🇱 to brace for Iran-style sanctions from 🇺🇸 as soon as 2029. “If the current coalition returns to power w/o changing its policies, defending Israel against financial warfare will become far more difficult.” 1/2

Something definitely looks up
BREAKING: Netanyahu has cut short his trip to the US and cancelled the planned Texas stop, flying to New York and returning to Israel the same day, shortly after Trump cut short his own weekend at Camp David to return to the White House tonight instead of tomorrow, citing the potential for significant escalation in the Middle East. At the same time, US embassies across the entire Middle East have issued security alerts for American citizens in the past hours. Trump said on Thursday he is approaching "a major turning point in the war with Iran" and asked "Do I want to go in and annihilate them or do I not?"

One month is still not ending! How long will it take to hang the killer @trahmanbnp @BNPBdMediaCell? Will it take your whole life to hang the killer? Or did your party members take money and still one month is not ending? BNP should be accountable for everything!

A French military source told Le Monde that France is already carrying out undisclosed conventional military responses to Russian hybrid attacks. Asked whether Paris could retaliate militarily without making it public, the source replied: “That is already happening.”

Six days after my initial assessment, the Houthis appear more focused on reaching understandings with the US, an ally of Israel, than on turning their territorial gains into a renewed campaign against them. As it stands, no sign of Axis revival is present and it appears the Houthi expansion is creating opportunities for separate agreements and greater independence from Iran. American officials met Houthi representatives in Oman after the coastal advance. Houthi representatives reportedly reaffirmed that they would not attack American vessels. That assurance extended to Israeli and other commercial vessels, with Saudi shipping excluded. This would typically constitute a betrayal of the highest order to the Palestinian cause by the Axis supporters. Obviously when you have Houthi leadership negotiating protection for Israeli shipping, that means interests have extended beyond the commitments associated with the Axis. The US also has a reason to deal directly with the authorities controlling the coast. A commitment obtained from the Houthis themselves identifies who is responsible for compliance. American nonintervention then becomes compatible with private sector interests if shipping remains protected and the group observes agreed restrictions. Which is the goal. Saudi Arabia’s position belongs within that wider negotiation. The exclusion of Saudi vessels suggests that Houthi leaders are preserving pressure on KSA while seeking reassurance from the US. They are separating the agreements they want from different governments. Makes sense. I continue to suspect that Saudi appeals for American intervention was merely a stunt to prepare the public explanation for eventual accommodation. KSA can demonstrate that it requested assistance before accepting negotiations over Houthi control. For the Houthis, the long term play now is recognition, reliable revenue, trade access, and reconstruction. Those benefits would only come at a trade off of shedding their axis posture, which clearly, it’s appearing to be the case. Leadership priorities, similar to Iran, have shifted towards survival, protection of commercial activity and restrict military commitments that threaten its income. Greater territorial authority would then bring obligations that participation in regional resistance campaigns makes harder to fulfill. Gulf governments would require those obligations in return for economic support. Financing an administration that remains free to attack its investors and trading partners would undermine the purpose of a settlement. Houthi rebranding would and must follow that change in responsibilities. Leaders would increasingly justify their authority through Yemeni sovereignty, reconstruction, and public services. Resistance language might survive longer than the military commitments, but preserving recognition and income would require behavior consistent with the agreements. Houthi gains would then serve a separate Yemeni settlement, with the US negotiating maritime protection and KSA negotiating regional security. I said that the Houthis would have to go through a rebrand since last year. These events tell me that we are exactly on that trajectory.

I wonder if the FP-5 in some configuration can penetrate or damage these sections. It has the same warhead weight as some of the smaller U.S bunker busters but you totally aren't touching any of those sections with drones or probably even Ruta block 3.
Alabuga is building underground production facilities for Shahed drones. Around 42,000 m² of underground space has already been constructed for future production capacity. Apparently, the idea of moving production underground emerged after the first Ukrainian strikes on Alabuga. We can now see just how quickly Russia is expanding this underground infrastructure. Unfortunately, over time, the entire Russian Geran ecosystem is becoming increasingly difficult and costly to strike: production is being moved underground, infrastructure is being dispersed, and additional protection is being added. Simply put — this is gonna be a pain in the ass. Coordinates: 55.808719° 52.026664°

I genuinely wish Erdoğan and Türkiye had never tried to turn the Muslim Brotherhood into an instrument of a neo-Ottoman regional project. That strategy came at a real cost. It deepened tensions with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and other Arab states, and pulled Türkiye into ideological rivalries that did little to serve its long-term interests. What I find encouraging is the shift that followed. Türkiye has gradually moved from ideological confrontation toward pragmatic engagement with the Arab world - rebuilding ties with Egypt and developing increasingly close strategic cooperation with Saudi Arabia. In August, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia even signed a joint defence agreement. And now we are seeing another important dimension. Türkiye has revoked Bank Mellat’s operating licence. Mahan Air is suspending flights to Türkiye. Meanwhile, Washington has sanctioned Golden Global Bank over alleged links to Iran’s IRGC-Quds Force. I welcome this direction! A Türkiye that works with Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the wider Arab world - rather than trying to dominate the region through political Islam - is a Türkiye that can contribute to a more stable regional balance. And strategically, closer Türkiye–Arab cooperation makes it harder for Iran to exploit divisions between the region’s major powers. That is something I believe the region - and the West - should encourage!

Writing in @tmrwsaffairs, @KingsCollegeLon @NawafEObaid argues that Saudi Arabia’s recent battlefield [West Coast] setback reflects problems with troop mobilization, intelligence reporting, and coordination rather than a lack of military resources. He maintains that improving the reliability of local forces and communication between ground units and air support is essential to any future operation. The article also places the conflict in a wider regional context, linking developments in Yemen to tensions involving Iran-aligned armed groups in Iraq. Its central argument is that Saudi Arabia’s immediate challenge is to address operational weaknesses while pursuing the more limited objective of reducing the Houthis’ capacity to conduct attacks. tomorrowsaffairs.com/behind-…
