I really like branchless programming as a concept, it shows you how to stop spamming ifs as a crutch and forces you to come up with mathematical solutions, which are almost always more beautiful
shame that one of the best mouses ever made (MX master 3) has a polling rate of 125hz so its pretty useless on monitors above 60hz... please logitech
instead of using traditional OOP for items in my game, ive been using composition. A gun will have components for aiming, firing, reload etc. Sounds overengineered until u start adding in building tools, binoculars, ammo bags, etc. Made everything 1000x easier
one of the best gamedev coding decisions ive made was treating player models agnostic of whether they were local or another player. In the past I would do things differently if it was your own body vs someone elses, so much simpler now
how do i optimize for 10 MG42s firing at 1200rpm? does roblox already batch them? do i fake it and make them 600rpm? lol
whats up with AAA studioes outsourcing their UI to completely unrelated studios? first one I can remember was battlefield 1, it would takr 2 whole minutes to quit a match...
my favorite part about GUIDs is that they arent unique, youre just hoping that they probably wont collide
making dev tools is surprisingly difficult (like converting some internal command-line tool to UI), getting good UX for end users without sacrificing features/usability is quite challenging
one of my favorite words is irregardless because it has the exact meaning of regardless and only exists to confuse ppl
