We are taking animals brought from temporarily occupied Oleshky πŸ’” They have lived through occupation, shellings and starvation, and now they are finally in a safer place. We already contacted with shelters and vet clinics that will provide further help for them. πŸ“Έ@HromadskeUA

πŸ”΄ The White House has knelt before Putin and is betraying Ukraine, says former President Barack Obama. β€œAnd while we push away key allies like Canada, the White House is bending the knee to Putin and betraying Ukrainians who are fighting for their freedom and democracy,” Obama said.

Canada's Secretary of State for Sport, Adam van Koeverden, says Canada "strongly opposes" the decision to overturn IIHF's Russian hockey ban: "Canada maintains, as it has since 2022, that Russia should not be represented in international sport competitions while Russia's illegal and unjustifiable full-scale invasion against Ukraine continues. Canada will maintain restrictions on the participation of Russian athletes at events hosted in Canada that receive funding from the Government of Canada and explore further options to ensure that the Russian government is held accountable."

Asking Canadian media producers and on air performers to tell the story of this great Canadian, who been killed in Ukraine. Rest in Peace Jesse Adams.
πŸ’” IN MEMORY OF JESSE ADAMS β€” A TRUE HERO FOR ANIMALS πŸ’” It is with enormous sadness that we have learned of the tragic death of Jesse Adams, founder of RainCoast Dog Rescue Society in Canada, who lost his life while carrying out an animal rescue mission in one of the most dangerous areas of Ukraine. Jesse dedicated his life to saving animals, even when it meant putting his own life at risk. We first came to know Jesse in 2021, when Afghanistan fell to the Taliban. Jesse and RainCoast were among the extraordinary organisations that came together to assist KSAR with the evacuation of 285 cats and dogs, helping many find loving forever homes. Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, Jesse travelled to the border to help fleeing families and their pets, providing veterinary care, supplies and assistance getting animals to safety. He returned repeatedly, undertaking increasingly dangerous missions. Most recently, Jesse worked alongside Animal Rescue Kharkiv, rescuing hundreds of animals from devastated frontline communities under constant threat from drones, missiles and artillery. These were extraordinary acts of compassion and courage in the face of unimaginable danger. Jesse knew the risks. He knew every mission could be his last. Yet he continued because he believed animals caught in conflict deserved protection just as much as those living in peace. Those of us working in animal rescue in conflict zones understand and accept these risks. But few possess the courage to repeatedly travel towards danger when everyone else is trying to escape it. Jesse was one of those very special people. His death is a devastating loss to his family, friends, RainCoast and the international animal rescue community. Our hearts go out to everyone who knew and loved him, particularly the Ukrainian rescuers who worked alongside him. His legacy lives on in every animal he saved and every rescuer he inspired. Rest in peace, Jesse. The world has lost an extraordinary human being, and the animals have lost a true champion. πŸΎπŸ’” With love and deepest respect, Louise and everyone at War Paws #JesseAdams #RainCoastDogRescue #WarPaws #Ukraine #AnimalRescue

Our new trading partner (Putin) just blew up a residential neighborhood near Kharkiv and killed 3 people including a kid on his scooter. But hey you guys, we're going to save $0.27 on diesel soon.

Ovechkin is to hockey like Leni Riefenstahl is to film--brilliant but tainted. No other Russian hockey star does propaganda videos for Putin. That's Ovechkin's choice. And that's why I'll give celebrating him a hard pass. 🚫 nytimes.com/athletic/7665604…

This little boy loved hockey too. @NHL @Capitals you cannot continue to let #Ovechkin play. @ovi8. Nothing excuses russia's brutal invasion of Ukraine. Lives matter, hockey doesn't. I'm a lifelong fan. @MarkJCarney #Canada must ban & sanction #Ovechkin

❗️A statement from Congressman @RepJoeWilson (R-SC) on Alexander Ovechkin appearing in Putin’s political campaign video. If I'm not mistaken, he’s the first member of Congress so far to react to this.
It is incredibly alarming that @NHL and @Capitals have allowed Alexander Ovechkin to appear in a campaign advertisement supporting the party of war criminal Putin. American hockey fans deserve better leadership from their star players!

A pillar of the community. A person standing next to war criminals as they threaten the West and declare their intention to destroy Ukraine is a pillar of their community. Get fucked, @Capitals, the most despicable sports organization in America.

This Labor Day, we commemorate the protections we enjoy because workers stood up and exercised their power to say no. An income floor would make it easier for workers to reject unfair and unsafe conditions. guaranteedincomeworks.substa…

Q: There are signs Putin will attend G20 in Miami this year. What would you say to Putin at the meeting? PM Carney: My message would be simple: β€œGet out of Ukraine. Give all of Ukraine back to Ukraine. End this war, which is killing more than 30,000 of your people every month.”

KALLAS: We need to restrict visas for Russians. It is not okay that Russia is bombing Ukraine, killing civilians while Russians are entering EU, and enjoying our hospitality. These tourist visas are also a tool used for acts of sabotage. This is a matter of our security as well.
