Trey Nyoni was Liverpool’s most impressive performer. The way he tamed bouncing balls in the middle of the park to reset Liverpool into settled possession. Some impressive turns. And he has a high level of intelligence to make the correct decisions again and again. Metronome.

That Rio vs Acheampong battle was an insight into England’s future. Rio had some great moments in 1v1s and even when he drifted more central too. But Acheampong also looked rock solid defensively. You don’t often see quality shining through in the same game for both the winger and the opposition full-back, but that shows the talent level of these two.

Tchouaméni is the only midfielder who rivals Rice in terms of pure defensive level. Absolute dominance in the middle of the park. Fermín and Raphinha were easily shut off between the lines and that is where the game was won for Real Madrid.
