Asking every kid who shows up Trick-'r-Treating tonight dressed as Scooby-Doo if they have the express written consent of the Skydance Corporation for their costume and immediately calling the police on any family who answers "no".

It Happened To Me: I complimented someone’s Halloween costume and it was just their outfit :(
That’s other Dickens novels, not the Christmas one.

On Christmas Day, EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC of a young orphan boy being starved and emotionally abused!
Which middle American chains get here and thrive is an interesting study. Steak 'n Shake tried a limited menu version briefly in the Theater District, Denny's also tried a curveball version downtown, and obviously you have a couple of Olive Gardens doing their thing.

To be fair, here in Manhattan we lack the authentic Americanism of Cheesecake Factory, unlike Obama who had access to one (which I have eaten at) at the foot of one of Chicago's most iconic buildings.
Should go to this as I’m likely going to be at the Joan of Arc Marci Gras parade (the first) the next month.

Hailed by conservative Catholics as the remedy for secular liberal higher ed, he lectured the Catholic bishops about being too lax when it came to preserving Catholic identity.
It’s always the ones you suspect …
Told you he totally ate at the one in the (then) John Hancock Tower.
The Tree of Life
Can someone recommend a movie that will absolutely destroy you in the most beautiful way?
Something deeply human that makes you feel connected to the characters, leaves you staring at the credits in silence, and stays in your head for days. Not necessarily sad, just something that makes you feel EVERYTHING.
A film about life, love, loss, loneliness, or the beautiful mess of being human. Something that leaves a little hole in your heart when it’s over.
One of the most unsettling movies ever made.
Evening viewing recommendation? On the Criterion Channel, watch THE VANISHING in our Highway Horror collection! An unorthodox love story and a truly unsettling thriller, Dutch filmmaker George Sluizer’s chilling film unfolds with meticulous intensity, leading to an unforgettable finale that has unnerved audiences around the world.

US Dept of Ed officially embraces right-wing genderbent Harry Potter romance fanfic. Here's that aristocratic, traditional high culture you ordered.
Good time to enjoy seasonal comedy "Love at First Bite."
Susan Saint James, who costarred with Rock Hudson in the 1970s TV crime series "McMillan & Wife" and later costarred with Jane Curtin in the sitcom "Kate & Allie" in the 1980s, has died. She was 80. cnn.it/4BvpzPg

That's right kids. No more messing around. It's time to put the phones away and start giving learning your full attention for a change. Now hurry up, class is about to start, everyone take our your school-issued YouTube machines.
Biggest sidewalk score I've had in NYC was a signed Noel Coward book. Also picked up an incredible jazz CD collection along with complete organs works of Bach on vinyl.

Quite possible the TV was free too. I got a Yamaha turntable from the early '80s from a recycling bag outside a cleared apartment a few weeks back (along with dozens of books from the guy who turned out to be a history professor and devout Episcopalian).
