I wrote 2,000 words about the fishiness of the NFL’s latest scandal for our newspaper here in Knoxville. The more I hear and read about this story, I find it forcing us to ask questions of the whole sports/media industrial complex.

According to the official NBA schedule analysis, the 76ers actually possess the single toughest opening 10-game stretch in the entire league, meaning their density of elite opponents is frontloaded more heavily than anyone else's. Silver waited on Bron to make the schedule 😑

Shedeur does the same thing Deion does where he's constantly assessing every question for a hidden meaning or motivation. KD did the same thing this week. I get the instinct. There are a few bad actors in our field who aren't interested in learning anything in interviews. But in general, this is an approach that's going to be a net negative long term.
#Browns QB Shedeur Sanders was asked if he's gotten to study the Saints' defense and what he's seeing so far. "Yeah, I've seen a lot. When I smile, just know that means something. I'm maturing, you know what I'm saying. I'm maturing. I could have gave that a decent answer, but now I'm just going to smile whenever it's just some questions."

Bazooka Joe, incoming. Also, this is an even more evidence that, when it comes to Nick’s press conferences, you need to pay more attention to what he does, not what he says. Gave McKee a vote of confidence yesterday.
A QB change in Philadelphia: the Eagles are naming Joe Milton their starting QB and benching Tanner McKee for Sunday’s game vs. the Giants, per @mikegarafolo and me.

I was a ballot worker in 2020. “Election monitors” are annoying AF, and their only objective is to stall the process.
Trump's Justice Department announced it is sending about 1,000 "election monitors" to polling places in all 50 states huffpost.com/entry/election-…

Made the playoffs in 5 seasons but in 3 of those, no one expected the team to win in the WC round. And in only one of those three WC exits (21) would we say the team overperformed. They underperformed in 23 and 25. 2026: many issues beyond the HC but he has 0 solutions.
If the Eagles fire Nick Sirianni, it will be fascinating to hear how they answer this question: "What message does this send to the next HC?" Sirianni made the playoffs in each of his first 5 seasons, made 2 Super Bowls, won in 2024, and he's fired 2 yrs later after 1 bad year?

I’ve been someone less harsh on Sirianni than others. But it’s disingenuous to say this is the ONLY time we’ve looked bad under him.

Wanna give Sirianni and staff a pass. It’s been a wild season for injuries, especially on offense, which I’d say is performing as could be expected. However…you look at the details (or lack thereof) in all phases and you remember, yes, the Eagles have a coaching problem (1/2)

Howie deserves significant blame, too (primarily for not properly addressing safety and edge) but he’s not going anywhere and a good coaching staff finds ways to make up for deficiencies in personnel. (2/2)

Eagles’ lack of pass rush is making this Washington offense look competent.

Fair question but literally nothing else he could do. Absolutely horrific.
Someone please explain to me what the guy in the tower would’ve done for them in that situation. My blood began boiling when I heard him say what do you need from me right after she just explained the very dire situation they were in almost twice. But I don’t want to feel animosity towards him

The controller was a Miami Center en route radar specialist, not in a tower. FAA rules require asking what assistance the pilot needs to enable priority handling/clearance of airspace while coordinating support; controllers cannot fly the aircraft. faa.gov/air_traffic/pu… avweb.com/features/when-… flightradar24.com/blog/flight-tr…

I don’t usually do this. I don’t like to get into the back-and-forth. But this was hilarious after all the chest-beating after Dallas beat a demoralized, depleted Eagles team Monday night. People should be fired in Dallas. The Cowboys have the most healthy talent in the division.
Cannot believe Arizona came back to beat Dallas. Good for Gardner Minshew and the Cardinals. They showed a lot of heart. And that Dallas defense continues to be a disaster.

Appreciated Nantz and Watt explaining why the Tucker signing in KC was controversial. Took about 30 seconds and then kept it moving—it’s not rocket science.

3 things to understand about the 3 new women’s accusations about Josh Jacobs: 1) they went to police. not lawyers, not media. there was literally nothing for them to “gain” by going to police, apart from the desire to help the fourth victim
Smear campaign on Jacobs man we gotta stop. No charges why is that coming out anonymously like that when he never got in trouble I don’t like that

Josh Jacobs pleaded no contest to misdemeanor battery and criminal damage to property after his May arrest and was placed on the NFL exempt list. Additional prior allegations from three women were included in police records released publicly via records request. espn.com/nfl/story/_/id… nytimes.com/athletic/75783… espn.com/nfl/story/_/id…

Said it before and I’ll say it again: I think the whole Vrabel/Russini thing allowed Howie to finagle a 1st from NE. We’ve seen the Birds get restitution from teams that have (at least plausibly) tampered with their personnel before. (see: Gannon, Jonathan and Arizona)
Still can’t believe Howie wrangled a future first rounder here.

It is easy to play the hindsight game with Howie Roseman's decisions but what moves that haven't worked did people at the time actually disagree with?

Welp, that’s game. Eagles offense looked like it had some juice but the defense let them down. Couldn’t get a stop. Run defense and pass rush were especially subpar.
