Altruists in Asia, Ep. 2: adapting to the metropolis Six-lane highway outside, train overhead. The Altruist sensor outside the window: PM2.5 around 3.5 µg/m³ on a quiet morning. Check the numbers, then open the window.

Altruists in Asia, Ep. 1: Testing the Hyperlocal Environment in Bangkok We set up sensors in two spots in the very heart of Bangkok. One on Sukhumvit, the city's busiest main road. The other just around the corner, a five minute walk away, in an apartment facing a quiet side street. We measured dust, noise, temperature, humidity and indoor conditions. Almost the same point on the map, yet the readings were clearly different, and so was the whole rhythm of the day. That is why a city map can't tell you what you actually breathe and hear. It gives you an average for the whole city, and an average fits nobody. Even when something hits everyone at once, like a dust storm, it still feels different on every street and in every room. The environment is hyperlocal. It is different for each of us. The only way to know yours is to measure it yourself, with your own sensor on your balcony and inside your home. What's the air like outside your window? 👇
