Your first week, fully planned. Paste this into Raina:
"Act as a [grade level] teacher getting ready for the first week of school. Create a 5-day plan that balances community-building, classroom routines, and introductory learning activities. Include a clear goal and one low-prep activity for each day."

Reading and writing donβt have to compete with history. In fact, history gives students something meaningful to read, write, think, and talk about.
π§ Episode 6 of #HistoryMatters explores how social studies can build literacy AND knowledge.

I think reading stamina deserves more attention than it's getting. Many students can read. Fewer can stay engaged with a challenging text for an extended period of time. Most educators agree reading stamina matters. The conversation is about the best ways to build it. I recently moderated a discussion on this topic. If it interests you, I hope you'll give the episode a listen.

"When new doors open, passions flow, courage blossoms, and dreams are realized."
This week, First Lady Melania Trump honored the nation's top student innovators during the inaugural Presidential AI Challenge National Awards Ceremony at the White House.
While Kentucky did not have a national champion this year, we couldn't be more proud of the students from Flemingsburg Elementary School, whose project, Blaze's Backpack, advanced to the National Finals and represented the Commonwealth on the national stage.
Their journey is a reminder that innovation can begin in any classroom and that when students are given opportunities to explore, create, and solve real-world problems, incredible things can happen.
Congratulations to the students, families, educators, and partners who helped make this achievement possible.

The most important skill for creativity is no longer original thinking. Itβs taste and tenacity.
In the age of AI, ideas are abundant. Good judgment and execution are scarce.
The future belongs to those who excel at finding and amplifying the signal in the noise.

I think less transactional classrooms, ones that operate in inquiry mode, are better at creating authentic, organic conversations where students make meaning and build connective knowledge.
"Efficiency" may be a trade-off, but there is deep learning value in those conversations.

PBL isn't about students "discovering" knowledge on their own, despite what critics say.
Itβs a vehicle to help them see why that knowledge is important and how connecting it helps them solve a real-world challenge or create something of value. wegrowteachers.com/consultinβ¦

I've been thinking about why so many people aren't using AI to learn new things.
It's not that the tools aren't good enough. It's that we're still looking for the old structures: the syllabus, the expert instructor, the curated textbook.
But AI fundamentally changes what's possible. You don't need to wait for someone to teach a course on exactly what you want to learn. You can have a patient tutor explain concepts in ten different ways until one clicks. You can ask the "dumb" questions you'd be embarrassed to ask in a classroom.
The barrier to expanding out of your intellectual comfort zone used to be access. Now it's just willingness to embrace a new mental model: everything is learnable, and you don't need anyone's permission to start.

"Today, I sat in a 7th-grade social studies class where students used a SchoolAI Space to investigate Ancient Egypt.
What changed the dynamic was Mission Control.
As instructors, we paused multiple times because AI surfaced real-time insights:

βοΈ Who was beginning to embed quotes
βοΈ Evidence use increasing across the room
Instead of grading after the fact, we coached during the thinking."
