Its all right here. 👇
When people say firing the coach won’t do anything I don’t think most people are saying that it’s gonna save the season it’s 1. Making a coaching change is the easiest thing to do RIGHT NOW 2. Developing the young guys should be the priority and Tocchet historically isn’t good at developing young guys 3. His system isn’t a modern system 4. Drama follows this guy always so getting rid of him is addition by subtraction
This.
The narrative has become that firing Tocchet and even trading people isn't going to "fix" the Flyers.
Thats not the point. The point is start now and hope you havent set your "rebuild" back 5 years because you made a poor decision on a coach or player.
A pattern you say?
"Now that we've connected these dots, it gets to a criticism of Rick Tocchet going back to Vancouver and Elias Pettersson...man it does sure seem like this is a pattern with this coach, focusing on one guy, who he just, for whatever reason...focusing on perhaps a team's best or most productive player... I don't see how this [criticizing Michkov] is productive in the least."
I think we all owe a piece of our sanity to the NHL schedule maker for giving us 3 full days off from Flyers(Tocchet) hockey.
🤔
Transaction: We have loaned forward Jacob Gaucher to the @LVPhantoms (AHL).

Maybe we can get Dvorak's opinion on what it means to play for your teammates next. Oh wait, he watched Martone take a flying elbow and did NOTHING.

You mean to tell me Nick Seeler (circled below) who watched Foerster get his head bashed in to the ice and did NOTHING thinks that people aren't playing for the guy next to them? Interesting.
I thought Nick Seeler gave a great comment postgame amongst the Flyers struggles:
“We’ve certainly had some discussions in the locker room especially with our starts. Just focus levels, compete levels and playing for the crest. That’s what it's all about. It’s not about getting points. It's not about, you know, me, me, me, it's about the team and playing for each other and sacrificing for each other. It’s really not that difficult to understand. You play for the guy next to you. That’s what Flyers hockey is all about and when we can start figuring that out at the start of puck drop, we will be a better hockey team.”

Im not sure what this could be about. If this is the case though then moves definitely need to be made sooner rather than later.
They've preached culture for way too long to let this infect the room.

Yeah thats it. Punish guys for trying to create offense on a team that cant score. Surely that will fix the problem
What this team totally needs is 15 more seconds of Noel Acciari
This game is just beyond frustrating and I dont loom forward to the Tocchet quotes after.
Just fire him already and let's try and move on. Please.
