If you truly want Epic Games to survive the next few decades @TimSweeneyEpic, You don’t accept defeat and let AI take over everything. Instead you double down on putting your own blood, sweat, and tears into making something actually great YOURSELF. AI isn’t that and it never will be. It’s a cheap way of getting out of the hole you made yourself with the metaverse. Where you failed was attempting to replace most content in Fortnite with small creator made maps before we even had the proper tools to make stuff. And while doing that purposely stripping Battle Royale of everything that made it fun/playable. And you had barely any moderation to make sure that maps weren’t soulless duplicated ai slop. And because of that the player count went down resulting in less income. Instead of coming up with better solutions or realizing your mistake you fired nearly 2000 employees and announced that in “trying to survive” AI will practically replace even more employees. Think of what this is doing to the industry for the future. It’s wiping jobs out, flooding the market with soulless husks of a “game”, and reducing any trust people have with your company. What I don’t understand is you MADE EPIC GAMES AND GAVE COUNTLESS GREAT GAMES. I don’t understand how you don’t see a problem with this. Even if you weren’t replacing employees you are still slapping them in the face by forcing them to use ai and not actually put any good work in. You claim these are just tool but we all know where this is going. You want to flood the game markets with ai slop and not label them. AI ISN’T GOOD FOR ANY CREATIVE INDUSTRY. That includes movies, music, games, or any form of art. 🫩
