A huge thank you to @GovPritzker for visiting EeroQ today, and his office's support in making Illinois the epicenter of quantum tech in America.
Illinois is taking another step forward to a quantum future for our state and nation. I'm proud to announce a new EDGE agreement with EeroQ — investing in their development and the tools needed to build a quantum computer. New jobs, innovation, and prosperity for Illinoisans.

Everyone is talking about quantum now. Which is a good thing. My team and I have been advising @QCHardware for some time now which is one of the most important start ups in quantum. Quantum is coming.

It’s almost #Q2B24, which means time for a fresh new preprint from EeroQ… and this one is particularly fun.
Here's a sneak preview of our flagship preprint for #Q2B24! Sensing and Control of Single Trapped Electrons Above 1 Kelvin arxiv.org/abs/2412.03404

Today, @GovPritzker, @IllinoisDCEO, and @QCHardware announced new investments in the company's Chicago HQ. 🎉 Bolstered by EDGE for Startups, EeroQ is investing $1.1M to develop a quantum computer that will revolutionize many sectors. EeroQ Co-founder and CEO Nick Farina, Gov. Pritzker, DCEO Director Kristin Richards, and Intersect Illinois' Chief Quantum Officer Preeti Chalsani all emphasized how this expansion reflects Illinois' position as a global quantum computing hub. Yet even MORE progress in error correction from today. Quantum computing is going to happen.
Houston, we are below the quantum error correction threshold! 🚀 In “Quantum error correction below the surface code threshold” (arxiv.org/abs/2408.13687), we implement a 101-qubit surface code. Each time we increase the distance by two, the logical error rate is cut in half!

We agree the NISQ era of quantum computing will be hybrid quantum and classical. Great piece by @RyanFMandelbaum, @jaygambetta, and Antonio Córcoles.

“It’s not as strange as it’s made out to be in popular culture, but it requires a fundamental shift in how we think about computation,” our CEO @jfitzsimons on quantum computing and how it's intrinsically different from paradigms of conventional computing. thequantuminsider.com/2024/0…
