How did libraries contribute to the preservation and transmission of knowledge across the Islamic world? Join us for a special symposium bringing together scholars to examine the development of historic libraries, the circulation of manuscripts, and the role of these institutions in shaping intellectual traditions during the medieval and early modern periods. Together, we will reflect on the legacy of these institutions and the importance of preserving their collections for future generations. Our speakers include: • Professor Konrad Hirschler, Professor of Middle Eastern History and Director of the Centre for the Study of Manuscript Cultures at the University of Hamburg, who will discuss the journeys of books and manuscripts following the disappearance of historic libraries. • Tamer El-Gebaly, a researcher in manuscript studies and textual editing, who will examine the Al-Azhar Library as a record of intellectual and social history. في نسختها الثالثة، استضافت مبادرة "اكتب لتُلهم: كُتّاب وكُتب" نسخة من المؤلفين والناشرين والمبدعين، لاستكشاف الدور المتنامي للذكاء الاصطناعي في قطاع النشر بدولة قطر. ومن خلال جلسات حوارية ثرية، ناقش المشاركون العلاقة بين الإبداع واستخدام تقنيات الذكاء الاصطناعي، والأبعاد الأخلاقية لاستخدامها، وما تتيحه هذه التقنيات من فرص واعدة وما تفرضه من تحديات ستعيد صياغة مستقبل الكلمة وصناعة النشر.

The third edition of Write to Inspire: Books and Authors brought together authors, publishers and creative professionals to explore the evolving role of artificial intelligence in Qatar’s publishing industry. Through insightful discussions, the program examined how AI is shaping creative processes, the ethical considerations surrounding its use, and the opportunities and challenges it presents for the future of publishing.
