BREAKING: Donald Trump and Elon Musk get slammed with bad news to end their week as two prominent government watchdogs launch audits into DOGE's possibly illegal access to sensitive systems. The audit is designed to evaluate the "adequacy of controls" that allow and restrict access to the crucial system, as well as to assure that payments are being made legally within the bounds of existing regulations. Additionally, the Treasury Department's inspector general is going to "follow up on any allegations of improper or fraudulent payments." The GAO informed Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ron Wyden — who have been extremely vocal about their DOGE concerns — that it had accepted their call to investigate Elon's organization and its employees' "unprecedented access" to the Treasury Department payment system. The watchdog stated that it will carry out "one body of audit work and issue multiple reports, if needed." This is the last thing in the world that Trump and Musk wanted.
