Iran's August Pivot – WHY THIS MIGHT BE THE MOMENT TO BET ON PEACE AGAIN (23/08/2026)
1/ Since Aug 3, Iran has struck commercial vessels daily in the Strait of Hormuz. Yet tankers still transit the Oman lane—the real chokepoint isn't shipping; it's the US blockade slowly strangling Iran's economy. Diesel shortages are acute. The currency just hit 196k tomans/USD. This is economic warfare with teeth (not a new strategy against Iran).
2/ Here's the inflection: SNSC Secretary Rezaee issued threats against US interests in the Middle East if the blockade continues. But threats are theater. The real signal came today (Aug 23): Oman's FM held talks with Iran's Araghchi about "favorable conditions for dialogue." This is not Iranian posturing.
3/ Why now? Because oil is climbing back toward $90/barrel—the exact zone where this cycle always flips from escalation to "deal imminent." US markets hate volatility; Trump needs a headline win. Iran needs relief. Oman, officially neutral, becomes the plausible backdoor.
4/ The Polymarket for "blockade lifted by Sep 21-30" is pricing an actual negotiation window. 2-3 weeks is tight but feasible for a framework agreement. Both sides have incentive: Iran gets breathing room, US gets oil stability and can claim "success."
5/ But here's where skepticism kicks in: The previous JCPOA gaps—nuclear verification timelines, sunset clause asymmetry, ballistic missile monitoring—remain structurally unresolved. A near-term "blockade lift" ≠ a durable deal. This is likely a tactical pause, not a reset.
6/ Complication: Iran's new command tier is markedly hardline. They're speaking in terms of "resistance" and "honor," not rational cost-benefit. This language can be diplomatic cover or genuine inflexibility. If it's the latter, the cycle breaks—and we escalate instead of negotiate.
7/ My base case: Expect an announcement of "negotiations resumed" within 1 week, possibly framed as Oman-mediated (technically true, but everyone knows Oman doesn't move without Washington's implicit consent). Oil dips on headline; markets briefly calm.
8/ Longer-term? The SOH transit fees, the nuclear file, and Iran's regional posture all remain unsolved. A blockade lift this fall probably just resets the board for another round of brinkmanship in 2026. We're in a narrative cycle, not a resolution.
9/ The wildcard: Does Iran's new leadership fall for the same cycle a third time? Or do they call the bluff, assume US won't renegotiate, and pivot to deeper partnerships with Russia/China instead? That's the bet that determines if this momentum holds or implodes

The price jumps from ~20¢ to 30-35¢. He sells every single share into the jump.
UMA: Too Early. The market resolves No.

And the money comes home: $463,515 back to Car.

🗣️ WHAT HE SAYS vs WHAT HE DOES
On X, he told everyone: "I am not associated with Polymarket. I am a normal trader."
He was already wearing Polymarket's badge. A month later, he announced, "I'm now the first and only verified account on @Polymarket", 16 minutes BEFORE Polymarket announced verified accounts.
In market comments, he taunted anyone who challenged his wallet's answers:
💬 "instead of disputing you could also just donate 750$ to me"
Three Yes holders later paid him exactly 187.5 each. A quarter of the bond.
On another market:
💬 "I proposed this and im gonna push this through."
When a wallet his money funds disputed a proposal, he wrote:
💬 "i didnt dispute it. but i will dispute the second one"
A trader replied: "You did. It's your address lol"
77 minutes later his wallet sent the disputing wallet $555. Just enough for another bond. It disputed the second one.
Healso ran a sponsored ad for a UMA voting pool that "resolves Polymarket disputes", while the oracle wallet held a seat on UMA's approved-proposer list.

Iran has to make some nuclear concessions (even if they are stupidly little) and we will have a deal / ceasefire.
Trump looks willing to accept whatever off-ramp he can sell to the media.
For sure he won’t accept a 7-stepped plan in which he actually just wins what already had before the war started (Hormuz transit + Oil at decent prices)
Just because he would be publicly accepting a defeat (=for reaching the previous pre-war status quo I offer you full control on SOH+ frozen funds+ sanctions relief)
Iranians, you have leverage now, Oil is rising and midterms are approaching, play your cards and give the orange guy that mediatic off-ramp he needs. And it will be a win-win.
Trump has already changed its message, his only one now is ‘Iran will never have a nuclear weapon’, he has already accepted that the only way to sell this internally as a Victory is saying that he made a better deal than Obama with the NPT.
Just play your cards, if you agree some lil stuff on nuclear, maybe letting IAEA inspectors to work on some of the plants, repeat (as in the MoU) that you re-commit for a 20th time to not having a nuclear weapon, downblending some enriched uranium… you will make a deal with peak momentum for both.
In my opinion, this is a matter of days. Both are interested on descalation and there is significant diplomatic flow + Oil skyrocketed

Gulf states are split over how to handle a restart of U.S.-Iran talks.
Qatar is lobbying the Trump administration for negotiations and has floated a seven day pause in fighting that would reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Oman is behind a phased reopening and a diplomatic solution.
Saudi Arabia and the UAE want economic pressure and sanctions on Tehran maintained. Riyadh's position is that Iran should absorb more pressure before any agreement, citing attacks on Gulf shipping and Houthi actions in Yemen.

BREAKING: Inventories in the US Strategic Petroleum Reserve fell by ~400,000 barrels last week, to 284.6 million barrels, the lowest level since 1982.
This marks the 26th consecutive weekly decline, putting inventories down more than -131 million barrels from their high.
The drawdown comes 22 days after President Trump said he would be using Venezuelan oil to begin refilling US reserves.
America's oil reserves are running extremely low.
