In September, our ship Ocean Explorer arrived in Pangnirtung carrying 15 brand-new sets of hockey equipment donated by @NHLPA Goals & Dreams for the Panniqtuuq Minor Hockey club in Nunavut, Canada.
In a remote northern community where equipment is costly and difficult to transport, this partnership helps remove barriers to participation while supporting the next generation of hockey players in Canada.
βWe have seen how access to equipment can immediately open the door for more children to play. This donation will provide young players in Pangnirtung with safe, new equipment and help the communityβs participation in the game continue to grow.β said NHLPA Goals & Dreams, Director, Andrew Wolfe.

βBefore making the crossing for the eclipse, our first stop was Vigur Island in Iceland's Westfjords.
It's a remote island that hosts millions of birds every season (over 60 species!), turning the land into one of the lushest places in Iceland thanks to the literal tons of natural fertilizer they drop every day.
Puffins were everywhere, constantly flying in with beaks full of fish for their chicks and posing on the rocks almost like they were bragging.
Arctic terns were actively defending their territory, so we had to walk the trails holding sticks over our heads to avoid getting dive-bombed.
We also saw black guillemots (the penguins of the Arctic) and eider ducks, whose soft and very expensive down is harvested by the local family once the ducks leave.
Swipe through for the photos I captured, including close-up puffin shots, a tern eyeing our group, Ali and I on the island, and a puffin fumbling its catch mid-flight!ββMark Kurtz, guest onboard Ultramarine during the recent Solar Eclipse voyage.
