Today the network is live, exchanges are reopening, and the first funds are already back with their owners. Affected? Check your address and claim at weak-seed-reclaim.qubic.org. The full story: qubic.org/blog-detail/qubic-…

Then came the hardest part: giving the money back.
The Computor quorum, 451 of 676 votes needed, approved a narrow, public recovery.
One agreed state. One release. One chain.

About 10 hours after the drain, developers had found every affected seed.
They also found a few hundred weak seeds the attacker hadn't touched yet, and froze those before anyone could empty them.
The wallet fix shipped the next day.

Then the network moved.
Every exchange listing QUBIC was alerted within 20 to 30 minutes.
Computors halted the chain at one exact tick, freezing 87.1% of the stolen QU on-chain.
The exchange holding the other 12.9% froze it within an hour.

The attacker never broke Qubic.
Some wallet seeds made on Apple devices weren't random enough, so they could be rebuilt.
The protocol and consensus were never touched. Every transfer was an ordinary signed transaction.

1,404 wallets drained overnight.
The attacker's next move was to cash out. It never happened.
Within hours, every stolen coin was frozen. Within two days, the network was back online, on one chain. Inside Qubic's incident response. 🧵

It also covered the hard part: what happens once real miners compete on real incentives, and the open questions the whole industry still has to answer. Thank you to @tbc_munich and @CointribuneEN for the support.

Plenty of projects talk about making mining useful. Qubic runs it on a live network. The keynote looked at what that takes in practice. Tasks that can be verified quickly, results every machine agrees on, and puzzles that can't be solved in advance.

1/ Can one brain-inspired agent do well at three levels at once: inside its head, in its world, and across generations? Our answer at EA 2026 in Nice: partly. Joint work with @VivancosDavid . Thanks to @_Qubic_ and @c___f___b for making this research possible.

Funds are now being returned through an open, evidence-based claim process. More than 230 claims have been filed, the first funds have gone back to verified owners, and every approved claim is published for a 7-day dispute window before payout. The goal is clear: every affected user made whole. Recovery is still under way, and we’ll keep reporting on it openly until it’s done.

The fix shipped the next day. Seed generation was corrected in wallet version 4.26.4, so no new weak seeds can be created. The recovery was decided by the network itself. The Computor quorum voted to approve it, and the network was back online two days after the halt.

Within hours, Qubic’s Computors coordinated a protective halt of the network. That froze 87.1% of the drained funds in place, on-chain, before the attacker could move them. The remaining 12.9% reached an exchange, which froze the receiving account within about an hour.
