RBKC along with others are culpable for #Grenfell 9 years on. No arrests and no charges yet RBKC still continue to manage the council and remain responsible for #HousingManagement #InstitutionalAbuse an afront to common decency. We must never forget. 💚 architectsforsocialhousing.c…

The report into Hong Kong's Wang Fuk fire has been published - less than a year after the blaze which killed 168 residents.
It tells a damning story of private sector greed, public sector negligence, staggering incompetence and blatant corruption:

Why no #Grenfell community communication @LucindasaKnight?
As I understand these were suggestions/requests from Community groups - why are comments disabled & why not inform #Grenfell BSR of your tabled speech?
There’s NO TRUST in RBKC & you wonder why

After the Grenfell Tower fire, the Tenant Management Organisation (TMO) which was responsible for disastrous decisions that led to the fire and the death of 72 of its tenants, was disbanded by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea @RBKC. Lancaster West Estate where Grenfell stood, was promised a new management culture and a 21st century estate and massive refurbishment after decades of neglect.
As the estate’s long-promised refurbishment proceeded, huge delays and ballooning costs and appalling mismanagement was being questioned by the beleagured residents on this estate. They began to organise and push back and demand answers, records and transparency of accounts and decisionmaking.
The Council's response? Take a Lancaster West Estate resident who had been raising legitimate concerns about the delayed and vastly over-budget refurbishment and decisionmaking transparency to court.
Yesterday, RBKC dropped its case against that resident, who was represented by the formidable Imran Khan & Partners.
Who authorised this legal action? How much public money was wasted on this vexatious action? And why subject residents, already failed so catastrophically, to further distress for exercising their right to legitimate question and challenge?
Before Grenfell, the TMO branded residents who challenged the tower’s disastrous refurbishment “rebel residents.” The Grenfell tower Inquiry heavily criticised the TMO for its relationship with its residents and the management of the disastrous refurbishment project.
Nine years and 72 deaths later, its replacement doesn't call them rebels RBKC takes them to court — with the chilling effect of discouraging legitimate questions, criticism and dissent.
The Lancaster West Estate residents' profound thanks to Imran Khan & Partners who stood shoulder to shoulder with residents on this important victory for the people on this estate.

@RBKC would rather spend thousands on baseless court cases than listen to residents. Complaint's about the millions wasted on our failed refurbishment ignored. Nearly 10 and years nothing has changed.

The UK government has advised every citizen to keep emergency supplies of water and long-life food, in order to improve the country's resilience in the face of increasing threats.
Ministers said households should aim to have enough basic supplies to last 72 hours - in case of extreme weather, technological breakdown - or the possibility of "state-sponsored terrorism" by Russia or other hostile powers targeting the UK's infrastructure.
🧐This is very concerning on so many levels. No one should be treated like this. #Audit #Scrutiny #Commissioners

Heat networks are a big, under the radar problem for housing and energy policy. Our budgets to fix them are far too low and consumers have no protection from the Iran War price shock which will land on rents and service charges next year
Imagine paying for heating when just 15-35% of the energy reaches your home.
Residents in buildings using heat networks still pay for the waste, and they have no energy price cap to protect them.

Laura Johnson’s appointment by the Barnet Group was a scandal. More than nine years after Grenfell, it should not take bereaved families and survivors campaigning for a housing organisation to take the Inquiry’s findings seriously.

Grenfell - 72 died from the fire, at least five died by suicide, 11,000 have PTSD, concerns about long term effects of toxicity on residents, 11 firefighters with terminal cancer - plus £1bn spent and rising.
That's 'nothing' right?
