newsweek.com/meghan-markle-a… it’s not looking rosy. Would YOU buy her scented candles? What about that jam? Everyone knows who she is and how ruthless she can be too. Hence her terrible poll ratings at minus 48!!
Listening to King Charles speech, I felt, as he forcibly pointed out, that the Commonwealth could do more. We need to come to terms with evils in the past, in order to look forward. I was pleased that the Royal Navy’s role in eradicating the monstrous evil of slavery got a mention.
The institution does so much valuable work that we don’t hear of @RoyalFamily
Superb speech by King Charles, who as Head of the Commonwealth, speaks at CHOGM in Antigua & Barbuda. A beautifully balanced speech, thought provoking & sensitive. There is no doubt the issue of a possible apology for the transatlantic slave trade by the UK has overshadowed this gathering. Important to remember how much invaluable work this institution does behind the scenes. He also spoke about climate change & trade, it is a unique chance for cooperation. @RoyalFamily
Meghan’s lifestyle programme With Love, Meghan loses at Daytime Emmys to the Prime Video dog docuseries A Different Breed @danwootton she really is going to the dogs with what she produces. She did not attend. She was, I gather, fine in Suits but such talent as she has has extremely strict limits.
Important to stress why it is essential for the Commonwealth if it wishes to thrive as an institution to have @RoyalFamily at its head. If the headship rotated it could easily go to a dictatorship, which would be unacceptable. If it was the Secretary General, a bureaucrat would have no appeal at all. Also, with all but 4 former British colonies, this link provides the bond between almost all the nations. We are lucky in King Charles as we were in Queen Elizabeth.
Good move of @RoyalFamily to emphasise that the King’s role is not policy making but “inspiring & convening”. Alterations in Burnham’s stance could lead to considerable costs & there will undoubtedly be much argument in Commonwealth. The King is above politics & Labour & Conservative now disagree on an apology for transatlantic slave trade. All, however, can rally behind the King.

#TheRodinMuseum in Paris is a treasure trove of his work and is a tribute to his genius. The displays are so atmospheric & the surroundings beautiful.
The queues in front of #TheLouvre were phenomenal but it is truly amazing to explore. Today I saw some of the European & Babylonian sculptures as well as Napoleon 111’s apartments. Talk about contrasts, the 19th Century designs are too elaborate fur my taste!!
#TheMoulinRouge has long been a colourful feature of Parisian nightlife. It is a fabulously colourful cabaret, for me the stars of the show #Feerie were a pair of acrobats who were simply unbelievably skilful & the famous Can Can dancers.

In the famous writer Victor Hugo’s beautiful home in the famous Place des Vosges in Paris. The wallpaper in the rooms is fabulously lavish. Several of his drawings are of scenes of destruction which echo the current riots. A fascinating mix!
Meghan Markle takes on new role on 'Junior MasterChef Australia' abcnews.com/GMA/Culture/megh… This seems to me the ideal job for her with an appropriate title, as she is not talented!
It was a fantastic idea for Prince William to appear @TheGNShow @BBC1 with Cate Blanchett, Hannah Waddingham and Robert Irwin who all promote his superb project The Earthshot Prize, next held in Mumbai next month. He always has such a superb mix from showbiz as guests @KensingtonRoyal

I know I write about the royals, but this from Aberfan today just broke me.
It’s from Diane Thomas, 78, a rescuer from the Red Cross who was only 18 at the time of the disaster, and spoke to Prince William.
She said: ‘The chapel had been converted into a mortuary so I spent three nights in the mortuary, bathing the children, to try and get slurry off their little faces so their parents could recognise them.
‘I took the anorak off one little boy, put my hand in his pocket and came out [with a note that] he’d had eight out of 10 for spelling. I’ve been trying all these years to think about how I can trace his mum. I can’t but I want to tell her because I was the last person to hold him and bathe him.’
This is why today is so important.
