Protecting our communities starts with accurate information and timely action.
Following the confirmation of an Ebola case in the FCT, Abuja, staying informed and taking preventive measures is essential.
We encourage everyone to practise good hand hygiene, avoid direct contact with the blood or body fluids of anyone suspected of having Ebola, and seek medical advice promptly after possible exposure.
For suspected cases, call the NCDC toll-free line on 6232.
Follow official health updates and verify information before sharing.

Before global conversations shape the future of HIV response, they are shaped by the stories, research, and people courageous enough to share them.
This year, SRHIN was in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, as our Director of Collaboration and Research, @RI_oladel contributed to the 26th @iasociety Conference (#AIDS2026) through research, storytelling, and youth leadership.
She presented the INCLUDE Project, showcasing how HIV prevention education and self-testing were made more accessible to over 1,500 youths with disabilities in Nigeria. Her work highlighted the importance of ensuring that disability inclusion remains central to HIV prevention efforts.
Beyond research, she curated “Live and Love,” a storytelling exhibition that amplified the voices of young people living with and affected by HIV from different parts of the world. Through powerful lived experiences of U=U (Undetectable = Untransmittable), the exhibition challenged stigma while celebrating hope, resilience, and the transformative power of treatment.
She also joined youth leaders and advocates in facilitating conversations on what it takes for HIV prevention strategies to be truly youth-led, trusted, and accessible.
At SRHIN, we believe that lasting change happens when evidence meets empathy, and when communities are given the platform to tell their own stories. Seeing Ruth contribute her expertise on a global stage is a reflection of that commitment.
Congratulations, Ruth. We’re proud to see your work inspiring conversations that move us closer to a world where no one is left behind.

A baby was admitted to NICU.
I asked the mother: "Has your baby passed the first stool?"
She didn't know.
The two nurses on duty didn't know either.
The only nurse who knew hadn't documented it or handed over the information.
Critical information!
A friend was booked for surgery at a hospital.
She showed up on the day, only to be told:
"You missed a clinic appointment. No test results. We have to reschedule."
No one told her about the clinic appointment. She asked questions, but somehow, that never came up.
A lot of times, we assume patients know what to do automatically, especially if they sounded smart during the review, but most patients need guidance.
And when we don't communicate clearly, patients suffer.
Healthcare workers:
Rather than say: "Come back for surgery in 2 weeks."
It's better to say: "You have a clinic appointment in 2 weeks. Bring these test results. If you miss it, we can't proceed."
Document everything. Hand over critical information, even if you're exhausted.
Ask your patients: "Do you have questions? Did I explain clearly?"
Be kind and patient with them.
Patients:
Ask questions. Write things down. Repeat back what you heard.
If something doesn't make sense, feel free to say: "I don't understand, please explain again."
Bring someone with you if you can.
Finally, remember that one Nigerian doctor handles 4,000-10,000 patients, and chances are that theyve seen at least 20 patients on any given day, so be in charge of your health.
Clarify, always.
