Trump rally attendee: Well, in the late 70s, I was a little too young to go to South America for the Jonestown Massacre. But this is as close as I'll ever get, so that's why I'm here. There's nothing like seeing a cult right up front.

Inclusionary zoning cuts housing construction by as much as a third, argues a PRI commentary citing a July UC Irvine study.
Builders must set aside homes or pay a fee, which raises project costs and makes fewer projects pencil out.

This has been Putin's dream for years: That his country, with GDP per capita lower than Poland, unable to conquer Donbas since 2014, will be treated as an equal to the US and China.

“we will pay any price….to assure the success and survival of liberty.” Is this still true? Do we prize liberty or do we prize power and purse? No more clear test than the choice between Ukraine and Russia. Abandon Ukraine and we abandon liberty. Eventually even our own.

So Musk approaches Trump with a really neat plan on how to send a message to Zelenskyy, who Musk is losing his patience with for failure to capitulate, and Trump and Hegseth agree. They coordinate this with Putin. There is a night of carnage in Kyiv as all of a sudden Ukrainians are unable to defend themselves. Innocent Ukrainians die at the hands of Musk, Trump, Hegseth and Putin. If not for what those four agreed to do that night these dead Ukrainians would be breathing right this moment. Musk quickly disowns any responsibility the next day out of concern that bad publicity could affect European business. Nice job electorate. Really sweet. Because of your stupidity and carelessness the United States is now a country that murders its friends' citizens just to teach them a lesson. This represents a betrayal that is hard for me to believe and stomach.
“Elon Musk approached Donald Trump with the idea of slowing down Starlink in Ukraine, The Telegraph can reveal.
The billionaire tech entrepreneur approached the US president with the proposal to introduce speed limits on the system, which hampered Ukraine’s drone defences, according to four sources familiar with the discussions.
One of the sources said Mr Trump “agreed” with Mr Musk’s suggestion, paving the way for the Pentagon to execute the slowdown on Starshield, the military-grade version of the satellite communications system.

People need to accept that the USA is an active ally of Russia now.
Latest: Zelenskyy tells reporters over WhatsApp that restrictions on Ukraine's Starlink systems remain. Interceptor drones can't function, logistics and operations hobbled. The maximum speed is 161 kph; "exceeding this limit causes the Starlink connection to cut out completely, resulting in the loss of the drone."
He says Ukraine has done tests to determine whether SpaceX is truly facing technical issues, as has been told Kyiv by the US side, or if this is a "deliberate operation... to restrict us, cut us off, and prevent us from defending ourselves and protecting our people, both at the front and among the civilian population."
He says Ukraine "sent a couple of vehicles equipped with Starlink terminals into European Union territory."
"They moved at speeds exceeding 180kph, and the Starlink systems worked perfectly. We have the relevant logs and evidence to prove this."
He adds: "The conclusion is clear: the restrictions are in effect within Ukraine but do not apply within the European Union. In other words, this is a planned operation."

Here's the thing about the Kelly Clarkson incident. Let's say it went down exactly as she described. You'd think, after finding out all the hate and harassment it caused, she'd put out a statement saying "Thanks for the support, but please don't harass Art of Play. I didn't mean for this to get out of hand." But she hasn't. So that's really telling. – at West Hollywood, CA

I’ve been in the clean energy industry as an entrepreneur for 15 years after a prior career in Dem politics as a bona fide progressive. Without changing many of my views I’ve left that community behind. By far the most frustrating experiences I’ve had on the ground developing solar were in counties run by leftie democrats in my home state of Maryland which is behind now on clean energy goals. They always thought they had a better idea or were smarter than the entire solar community combined. I see that same dynamic with @RepHuffman on permitting reform. Jared, your home state of California is BEHIND on the SB 100 goals. Permits, interconnects, transmission are part of the reason why. THIS is the legislation we believe in. We know our businesses and what removes the rate limiters.
We need to elect politicians who want to BUILD the future. (Oh by the way Maryland Dem legislature eventually passed a great permitting bill.)

If you don't believe in the laws of supply and demand, just look at Phoenix's apartment market.
Since COVID, Phoenix ranks Top 5 for apartment demand and yet ranks in the Bottom 10 for rent growth.
Why? Not rent control. Supply. Phoenix ranks No. 3 for supply over the same period.
It ain't complicated. If you want to help rent affordability, embrace the science. Embrace the one and only solution proven to work.
The math is getting harder these days for new construction, so it's an opportunity for cities and states to find creative ways to get more development to work -- expedited timelines, public/private partnerships, tax abatements (in exchange for affordability requirements), etc.

Zelenskyy: "When our strikes reached Yandex data centers, it suddenly became little easier to breathe on many social media platforms. Many people noticed it.
There was less hate, less division, fewer provocations because there were fewer bots. It's pretty clear where those bots were coming from.
If they disappeared when Yandex went offline, this proves once again that Europe is not the source of the problems."
The big problem is that Russia figured out how modern society consumes information a decade ago, but the West hasn't.
There are millions of bots commenting and posting Russian propaganda. There are paid influencers spreading it, with Russian bots supporting their content.
There is a gigantic machine operating to radicalize and influence Western societies, and there is not enough defense in place.
It doesn't just influence elections, it sows discord, engulfs societies in culture wars, radicalizes teenagers, and shapes political decisions when elected officials fail to read the room.
That needs to change. And fast.
