Great to see the Orange get out of the gate quick with a dominate performance in the season home opener. Success breeds confidence, the program needs to continue to build confidence and expect to win every time they step on the field. “Hoping” to win at this level of football does not work.
For those that will say it was just UNH, to put the win in perspective, a fact not widely remembered is from 1995-1998, with all the great players and 3 time league championship teams we were blessed to play on, for four years McNabb and I started togeether, we never won a single home opener….The most disappoing was in 1998 against the eventual National Champion Tennessee Volunteers which was a battle we were prepared for, had all the talent to compete and dominated much of the game, unfortunately we let it slip away at the very end. The following week we went to the big house and took it out on Tom Brady and the Michigan Wolverines, but we also lost earlier in our carears to East Carolina in a home opener…. those losses came back to haunt us when we got deep in the season and looking to be in the national championship conversation. So well done across the board.
It was great to see Steve back out in the field performing at the high-level we are used to seeing, he’s really an impressive player, but even a better person with all the qualities to lead this team Also very pleased for Fran. A lot of fans don’t realize how much work goes into preparing for a game like this, very happy for the program, the coaches and the players, keep it rolling. Go Orange 👊🍊

An amendment to eliminate this PE factor was proposed but not included in the bill.
I couldn't be happier for two of my favorite NFL brethren, Greg Olsen and Syracuse legend Tim Green. Tim's son, Troy, played a significant role in this award. Tim has been a mentor to me and a pillar of courage in his fight with ALS. Character is rare, and courage is even rarer. Most people discover they possess neither, but Tim has consistently demonstrated both traits throughout his life. I am proud to call him and the Green family friends, and I am thrilled he was recognized with an Emmy. I've known Greg since his college days. He has always had a nonstop motor, positive infectious energy, and attitude, along with the intelligence, intellectual curiosity, and work ethic to perfect his craft, whether on the field or in the broadcast booth, where these positive traits shine. Again, I am proud to call Greg and the Olsen family friends, and I am pleased he was recognized with an Emmy for the great work he has put into his second career. Congratulations to you both, upward and onward!

Syracuse University Unveils The Legend of #44 Exhibit
Honoring the Most Iconic Number in College Football History
SYRACUSE, N.Y. Syracuse University proudly announces the unveiling of The Legend of #44 Exhibit, a permanent installation celebrating one of the most revered traditions in college athletics. Located adjacent to Club 44 within the JMA Wireless Dome, the exhibit brings together an unprecedented collection of artifacts, stories, and memorabilia honoring the men who made #44 synonymous with Syracuse Football excellence.
For generations, #44 has represented far more than a jersey number. It has stood as a symbol of achievement, character, leadership, and impact.
The exhibit highlights the extraordinary legacies of:
Jim Brown
Ernie Davis
Floyd Little
Rob Konrad
Together, these men helped transform Syracuse Football into a nationally recognized program and established a standard that continues to inspire generations of student-athletes.
Featured Artifacts
Among the exhibit’s signature pieces are:
Jim Brown’s Syracuse game helmet
Ernie Davis’s game-worn cleats from his Heisman Trophy season
Historic uniforms and equipment from multiple #44 eras
Rare photographs and personal memorabilia.
Original correspondence, including a handwritten five-page letter from legendary coach Ben Schwartzwalder discussing Brown, Davis, and Little
Trophies, awards, trading cards, and archival materials documenting the evolution of the #44 tradition
Many of these items have never before been displayed together publicly.
A Legacy Preserved
From 1954 through 1998, only eleven Syracuse players were entrusted to wear #44. The number became one of the most recognizable symbols in college football, representing a lineage of excellence unmatched in the sport.
In 2005, Syracuse University officially retired #44, ensuring that its significance would be preserved for future generations.
Today, the exhibit serves as a permanent home for that legacy.
More Than Football
The Legend of #44 Exhibit is not simply a celebration of athletic accomplishment. It tells a broader story about leadership, perseverance, opportunity, and the enduring impact of individuals who transcended the game.
Each artifact reflects a chapter in the history of Syracuse University and in the lives of the remarkable men who carried the number.
As visitors move through the exhibit, they experience a tradition that helped shape not only a football program, but also American sports history.
Dedication
Twenty years after the retirement of #44, Syracuse University, the #44 alumni, and the families of Jim Brown, Ernie Davis, Floyd Little, and Rob Konrad proudly come together to celebrate and preserve this extraordinary legacy.
The Legend of #44 lives on—not because it is remembered, but because it is protected.

Really looking forward to the Syracuse Football Faithful to have their first look in the Dome this upcoming season next to main entrance and club 44, at this amazing Legend of #44 display that brought our #44 Family closer together. These men change life for the better, left every team they participated on better off when they arrived. They were apart of a group of athletes that help pay the way the civil rights act . Some greatly reduced gang violence, some literally made a franchise, server offered to serve major government institutions. That is not common for a group of men with common goals who played footballweari g the same #44: We collectively morned deeply and miss Jim, and Floyd, I can’t think of a more amazing opportunity at 18 years old to have these amazing men as personal mentors, to learn from them on and off field, the standard they said from three they came before rhem. The commitment, the passion, and the desire for excellence. To see what they later accomplish away from the field, was impactful in my life. I hope the fans and the historians of Syracuse Football will enjoy, be astonished at some of the most unique memorabilia in SU Football History, and I hope the fans enjoy the display as much as we did accumulating over it over a decade. I’ll be up for most of the games this year and I hope to see you all there. #44 – at Nantucket, MA
