Really good to meet with Salford Students’ Union officers and University of Salford leadership today to discuss the cost of living, student healthcare, retaining graduates in Gtr Manchester, and the future of tuition fees. Thanks to everyone for such a constructive conversation.
Great to be at the launch of the Thunder Netball Foundation at Buile Hill Academy today. I saw some of the amazingly talented pupils in action who will benefit from the Foundation's work. Their enthusiasm and determination were inspiring.
That's why it's so encouraging to see a new charity dedicated to creating funded and affordable opportunities for children and young people, while helping to tackle health inequalities and improve wellbeing across our communities.
So deeply saddened to hear of the passing of former Salford councillor, deputy leader and Ceremonial Mayor William "Billy" Moores.

A Salford lad, he worked in the Chloride factory in Clifton later becoming a Salford councillor and then deputy leader to his lifelong friend Bill Hinds.
He was a true Salford legend and he will be sorely missed.
Rest in peace Bill.
