A kid dressed as Mario sees two pieces left in a Halloween candy bowl. He takes one, then empties his own bag to refill it so the next kids aren’t stuck with an empty bowl.
That’s the opposite of the parent who reads the “take one of each” sign and still tells their kid to load up.
Most of us talk about raising good kids. This is what it actually looks like in real time small, unsupervised choices that show whether the values stuck or not.

Something has quietly changed about Halloween. When I was a kid, you just walked outside and trick-or-treated in your own neighborhood. Now parents drive their kids across town to the same few popular neighborhoods, while streets that used to be packed with kids sit completely empty. We didn’t just lose trick-or-treaters. We lost a little bit of what made neighborhoods feel like communities.
I’m sorry, but this Grand Theft Auto commercial is just as bad as the gambling and ED drug spots for parents who want to watch the World Series with kids. Wow. How is something rated M allowed to advertise like that to a general audience?

Friday nights used to mean walking into a video store with no idea what you were renting, spending 45 minutes wandering the aisles, and leaving with a movie you couldn't wait to get home and watch.

We're not looking for an office to become our second home. We have lives, families, responsibilities, and better things to do than pretend a pizza party makes up for being underpaid and overworked.
Pay us fairly, respect our boundaries, and let us get on with our lives.
