Mumbai has always grown by building upon its history. Our city reflects the imagination, enterprise and resilience of Mumbaikars.
"Overshoot, Leaning Ecologies" by RPG Art Foundation brings this history into a contemporary conversation. Through the visuals of the elephant and the forms of architecture, geology and landscape set in stone, the artwork reminds us that what we build remains connected to the world around us.
Public art has the ability to make us pause and see our city differently. I am pleased to see an initiative bringing art into the public realm and encouraging Mumbai to engage with both its heritage and its future.
My congratulations to the RPG Art Foundation and Shri Arunkumar H G, for a work rooted in Mumbai's history that also invites us to consider the kind of city we wish to leave for future generations.
