1.) Three companies control 90% of the world's memory. Two already pleaded guilty to fixing these exact prices. Executives went to prison. One got promoted to run Samsung Europe. Full breakdown 👇
2.) 2002: DOJ investigation. $731M in fines. 18 executives charged. Samsung's Sun Woo Lee did 8 months for price-fixing. Samsung's response? President of Samsung Germany. Then President of Samsung Europe.
3.) 2018: same three companies, sued again, same accusation. They beat it. The court called it "conscious parallelism." Apparently it's legal when three companies read the same market and cut supply in lockstep.
4.) 2026: same three, sued a third time. DRAM up ~700% in four years. Micron just crossed $1 trillion. SK Hynix up 800% in a year, briefly passed Samsung as South Korea's most valuable company.
5.) I spent over a decade working supply chain and quality in manufacturing. Nobody with a forecast gets "surprised" by a multi-year AI buildout. This was a choice.
6.) The Trump administration subsidies and export controls propped up three companies with two prior price-fixing convictions between them. That is not a free market.
