Hoping to produce more Maldives #Datavisualization in 2022. Here is one I made last year, experimenting a #dataviz type to depict island distributions and associated features. Showing >1k islands spread over 850km with all these info on a map makes it too cluttered. #RStats

"Ultimately, the legacy we leave behind will not be measured solely by the studies published or the projects completed, but by the students and young professionals we inspire to carry the torch forward. By investing in local scientific talent today, we are building a stronger scientific community and ensuring that future generations are equipped to protect the Maldives' greatest natural asset: our marine environment." - Minister Ahmed Shiyam

“I am particularly encouraged by the increasing number of Maldivian authors represented in this years’ abstracts and as always, by the strong representation of women and youth in this field. These are encouraging signs that the future of marine science in the Maldives is bright. We remain committed to creating an enabling environment that fosters scientific excellence, innovation and collaboration.” - Minister Ahmed Shiyam

Great news for British shoppers and Maldivian fishermen. The UK is suspending tariffs on tuna, helping bring prices down in the UK while opening better market access for Maldivian tuna. A win for affordability and sustainable tuna, caught one fish at a time. 🎣🐟 shorturl.at/4ombH

We are deeply saddened by the passing of our DDG for Mariculture Research, Hassan Shakeel. A pioneer in mariculture, he dedicated 40 years to MMRI, mentoring many and shaping the field. May Allah (SWT) grant him Jannatul Firdaus and give strength to his family and loved ones.
