Raeburn Shield 🏉Rugby's Lineal Men's Champions

I didn't even know Logan Cadwallader... Over the past few days since the news broke of the passing of the All Blacks Head of Security in the team's Edinburgh hotel I have been deeply affected. The amount of love shown for this man online has been incredible. Logan obviously positively touched so many people's life's, and in an age where hate, and division appear to rule the world, this outpouring of sympathy has been refreshing, adoring, and above all else, unexpected. Logan was a rugby man, he did his best work in the shadows while protecting others. As an All Black fan for 55 years, I have never known the All Blacks head of security by name. I almost feel ashamed. Rugby fans are apparently engrossed only in what is going on, on the field, in training, and in games. We ruthfully ignore the human beings who are behind the scenes, playing equally as important roles assisting our brilliant team to move seamlessly, and safely around the world. Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear suits and ties and ear pieces. We could say, we know that they are doing their best work when we don't have to see them.nd the All Blacks. Learning of Logan in this way, about his job, his family, and his commitment to the All Blacks and to rugby in general reminds me once again that our beautiful game across the world is full of heroes and heroines. They are not always in front of the cameras, or on rugby shows, podcasts or in the press. They are quietly going about doing the best they can to make our game safe for current and future generations. So, as the All Blacks take the field this weekend in Edinburgh, my eyes won't just look at the silver fern on the jerseys or the numbers on the scoreboard. I will look to the sidelines, into the quiet corners where the team's protectors stand, and remember the massive void left by a true servant of the jersey. Logan "Caddy" Cadwallader didn’t score the tries or hoist the trophies, but he stood as a shield so that others could reach greatness, bringing the same unwavering devotion to the team that he once gave to his country as a special forces soldier. To his wife Nannette, his children Trey, Brooke, and Mia, and to his heartbroken rugby family on the other side of the world, we wrap you in our deepest love and respect. Rest in love, Logan. Your watch is over, your legacy is secure, and you will never be forgotten by the game you protected so beautifully. #AllBlacks #Rugby #ScotlandRugby
