Regenerating a city should mean a better life for the people who call it home.
That means adequate housing, better services and neighbourhoods where people can live with dignity.
This is what #WorldCitiesDay2026 is about. #WCD2026

In a world facing conflict, climate change, the housing crisis and inequality, the Secretary-General reminds us that the UN and its Charter matter more than ever.

Conflict in one part of the world can leave families thousands of miles away struggling to put food on the table.
Together, we must work to protect food security, keep essential trade moving and ensure the most vulnerable do not bear the heaviest burden.
We cannot allow today’s conflict to become tomorrow’s hunger crisis.
