There’s no water or power in Kyiv because russia is trying to cause Europe’s biggest humanitarian disaster. Millions of people live in Kyiv.
And Putin’s envoy Dmitriev is standing at a podium in the White House describing russia as a great humanitarian nation.
Frankly unsurprising if he wants any chance of getting the top job.
Hell of a story hitting the wire from Bloomberg in DC:
*RUBIO CONSIDERS LEAVING ADMINISTRATION AFTER GOP'S MIDTERM LOSS
(Bloomberg) -- Secretary of State Marco Rubio is weighing whether to leave the Trump administration, people familiar with the matter said, as he considers his next moves following Republicans’ midterm elections wipeout this week.
Rubio and his advisers are going over options for his future, according to the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal deliberations. He hasn’t made a decision about whether to quit his posts as top US diplomat and national security adviser, and there is no timetable on a possible departure.
Rubio has spoken to officials at the White House about stepping down, and has been asked to stay, some of the people said. The State Department denied he was thinking about resigning.

<<sighs>> That’s not what she meant & you know it. She meant the saving wasn’t going to be specifically useful for their condition. Where’s the evidence people with ADHD need to be *additionally* encouraged to use trains with a discount? People with ADHD already use trains routinely.
Kemi Badenoch tells @IainDale that people with ADHD shouldn’t get discounted train tickets because “I don’t even think going on trains is something they’d find useful.” Sorry what? The Leader of the Opposition thinks people with ADHD shouldn’t be using trains?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Kemi Badenoch said people with ADHD need help with their ADHD, not discounts on train tickets. She did not say they should not use trains.

There are lots of very silly posts on this site (from people who really should know better) showing quotes from politicians speaking highly of @rustyrockets Russell Brand, snidely mocking them for backing a sex offender.
These people were praising Brand YEARS before he was ever publicly accused of sex crimes, let alone convicted of rape.
So what on earth is your point? This is absurd.

Thank you to the brave, brave women who came forward ❤️

Huge result in one of the more ‘progressive left’ US states on sex base rights as WA adopts Initiative 638 which prohibits biologically male students from competing in female K–12 school sports requiring medical verification of biological sex for female-team eligibility

What would it mean if there is a quick resolution to the Iran war in the wake of the disastrous midterms?
Helpfully, the OBR pulled together some scenarios in its recent economic and fiscal outlook
Under the 'orderly recovery' scenario, oil prices fall to $55 a barrel in the second quarter of 2027 and 55p per therm in the third quarter
Inflation falls to 2.25% in 2027 and GDP growth is 0.5% higher
The lower level of inflation 'largely reverses' the decline in living standards
The cost of government borrowing is lower across the forecast period
In other words it could be transformative for both the economy and Andy Burnham's premiership
Exc: Evasion of Angela Rayner’s new “tourist tax” will carry a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.
The measures, set out in a bill published on Wednesday, target accommodation providers in England who evade the proposed overnight visitor levy.
The new legislation is also designed to prevent property owners offering “mates’ rates” to friends that would reduce the amount of tax paid on temporary stays.

If there’s no enforcement powers isn’t this just another costly quango that can’t do anything meaningful?
Labour wants to do what it thinks are good things but has little idea on how to achieve it.
A car crash interview from Angela Eagle, “the lesser of two Eagles”.
Labour’s big announcement today is the introduction of eight new regional water councils, but the Environment Secretary can’t even explain what powers they’ll actually have.
Additionally, which areas will each one cover? Who will lead them? How will membership of these councils be selected? When will they be established? Who will they answer to? Etc, etc…
Another shambolic announcement from a Government which loves a headline, but has zero detail to back it up.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard an interview like the one Angela Eagle is currently giving on @TimesRadio. The minister just told @StigAbell to “get a life” 💀
