SICKENING: A US Marine strangled a 39-year-old woman in an Okinawa hotel room until she stopped breathing, then walked out with her wallet and backpack. EVIL. NO EXCUSE. NO COMING BACK….. Lance Cpl. Devin Jacob Ballard, 20 telling police, “I don’t know anything about it.” Anna Yagi, 39, was found dead at the Naminoue Crystal Hotel in Naha, Okinawa, around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026. ⚫Police say she was killed between 2:10 a.m. and 4:17 a.m. A judicial autopsy found she was strangled. ⚫Security footage shows him entering the hotel with her and leaving alone with her wallet and backpack. ⚫He is assigned to Marine Corps Air Station Futenma. He was arrested in Okinawa City and remains in Japanese custody. He is being held on suspicion of robbery-murder. In Japan, robbery causing death can bring death or life in prison.
