Before him, former justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro gave it a go – but was unable to finish the job after fleeing the country‘s prosecutors and eventually settling in the USA.
In many countries this is a disturbing antidemocratic trend employed by consecutive governments that has taken hold across central and eastern Europe since the 1990s, especially as they seek closer integration with the EU and Nato.
Without pushback it can only lead to the deepening of reactionary currents in European society.
When will we rediscover a pan-European solidarity, learn to defend the achievements of the socialist people’s republics more strongly, and reclaim our shared European heritage?

For the youngsters, the Party was something absolute, all inclusive-the air they breathed, the bread they ate, the iron they cast. For Shor, the Party was something so close to his heart that at times he blushed when talking about his work, like a man recounting the intimate details of his private life.
The party had seemed tiny to him when he first joined it. They met in Fischberg's flat- Comrade Yegor, Comrade Varya, Comrade Smirnov. Their fingers were stained with ink; they poured gelatine into a tray and drew out the pallid leaflets. Their thoughts were clear but the letters were as hazy as the future.
Twenty-four years had passed since then. Now the Party seemed to Shor as huge as the world. It built industrial combines, opened up the steppe, pumped oil along pipelines and kindled Martin furnaces. It fostered a hundred and fifty million people. The Party's road was long. That road, to Shor, was life.

Burkinabe Researchers Develop Bio-Insecticide Against Malaria and Dengue Fever
🇧🇫 Joseph Ki-Zerbo University has developed a product based on the leaves of Calotropis procera that targets the larvae of Anopheles gambiae and Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, the respective vectors of malaria and dengue fever.
The project's results were presented on October 8.
▪️ Trials showed a larval elimination rate of 80 to 90%.
▪️The product comes in the form of matrix tablets designed to prolong its action.
▪️ The project required approximately three and a half years of research.
▪️ The goal is to provide a local solution and reduce reliance on chemical insecticides.
🔬 The researchers wish to continue the trials and work on the production of the bio-insecticide at a lower cost.
